Haven't seen anyone else with this issue, but I'm sure you exist.

We invited 130 people and guaranteed 70 at our venue.

So far we have 36. It might be a struggle to hit 50, let alone 70. More and more people we expected to come are replying no.

Any ideas on what to do?

We had a lot more declines than we thought. However, we were on a food and beverage minimum, so we ordered more food and wine to make up the difference. Could you do something like that with your venue?

We invited 130, we have 35 yes, 29 no officially.

But a total of 64 no overall, including people that now won't come cause others aren't

The deadline is still 2 weeks away, but we're already below the 70 we guaranteed.

I emailed the venue, asking to lower the guarantee to 60. It will save us ~$800. Then we will probably do add-ons to get up to the cost of 60 people.

We are facing the same issue. Our guarantee is 100 people and I think we'll end up somewhere between 80 and 90.

I am going to ask to make up the difference with food upgrades, etc. but worst case the venue won't let us and we'll just have to eat (no pun intended) the cost of the extra people. Since it is completely out of my control I am just going to view it as an extra cost for having the wedding of my dreams at my chosen venue! It's already in the budget and yeah it sucks but there's nothing we can do.

We have to have a minumum of 100 for our venue and so far we are at 76. But we still have almost 1/2 of the RSVPs still floating around out there. My parents paid based on 150, but I think realistically we are going to have 125 (if that).

We have 96 and in order not to incrue a fee we have to lie and say we have 100. It's worth the extra 4 plates of food.

Honestly, I'd start inviting more people. We made our list small and have so many people I'd like to add on that if people started replying no in droves, I'd start inviting more. Unfortunately, we've only had 6 no's, so I haven't added anyone yet.

Be careful about inviting more people at this time. Having a b list for a wedding is not a nice thing to do. As PP have said check with the venue about upgrades. We only had a food and beverage minimum not a people minimum. Give it some time you may get a lot of last minute yes responses.

The deadline on our RSVPs was today. So far about 30 people have said they're coming, of a total of 150 invited. We didn't even get a single RSVP in the mail today, which is really disappointing. We're going to wait until Monday, but then I will begin calling people left and right!! I don't need to have a head count to the venue until August 3, but I need to get going on ordering stuff for centerpieces. Oy, am I stressed!

I just gotta get this out! Damnit! I too am having the same problem! The more I think about the wasted stamps for those RSVP's that people just won't or can't put a frickin number down and drop it in the mail, I get so ticked..Most of the missing ones are from a few friends but mostly my Dad's side of the family..My Mom talked to my grandma and gave her a list of all my uncles that have not responded...she acts so...whatever about it..Grandma says they probably threw them away but will be there! GRR!!! My Mom has used FB to send messages to those who get on there alot, We sent out approx 80 invites with ONLY 17 RSVP's being sent back! In March, whe we booked the place, we said 100. My Mom is keeping a word document log of who was invited, who sent their card back with how many, who responded verbally they were coming and right now, including all of us in the BP and the DJ, we are at almost 80..My Moms friend got an invite and brought it to her Friday with 7 people wrote down when Mom only invited her and her hubby but she is bringing all her kids and maybe grandkids..Well hell, first she thought WTH? but now, it added to our numbers! Isn't it just awful to have to figure this out and chase these people down?! We feel like RSVP Nazis! The wedding is 3 weeks from tomorrow!!
