Budget near Baltimore

I recently became engaged and I told my now fiance that I wouldn't mind eloping but, I would really like to have a simple ceremony. We are relying on only our finances and we have been looking for a place to rent for months now.  I'm thinking I'll take care of the invitations myself, makeup at the mac store, hair may possibly be done by me or a friend, and my fiance has a friend that is a DJ so I can consolidate my expenses on these things. Has anyone gotten married near the Baltimore and Annapolis area for a budget of 5K??? If so, I would appreciate the feedback.

You should try posting this on your local board.  The girls there can help you.  In the menu on the left, click local wedding boards, and you can find the Baltimore board there.

Your ideas are great! Have you thought of an outdoor park or something like that? That could be really inexpensive. Maybe North Point State Park? I went to a wedding there and thought it was lovely. If you know someone with a large home and pretty outdoor area that could be an option if your wedding is on the smaller side. Make it BBQ or cookout style and the food cost per person would be a really good deal.

    Hi!

My fiance and I are also financing for the majority of our wedding on our own.  While we have a bit of a higher budget, I do have a suggestion for DIY invitations.  There is a website called oneheartweddings.com that I am using for creating my own invites, programs, etc.  It allows you to sign up for around $40 and you get a year of the website.  What you can do is use their templates to design almost anything you need and then you are able to download it and print.  Basically it will cost you paper and envelopes, but can keep with a common theme or design.

Also, this isn't much of a budget saver, but it was for a good cause.  Instead of trying to find less expensive favors, we decided to give to charity for our favors.  This way, our favors don't go to waste.

If I come up with any other budget savers, I'll be sure to share!

    Good luck!

Thank you for your suggestions. I will try to brainstorm for ideas on more places for a venue a little closer.

A friend of mine just got married at the hawks pleasure club in Essex and it was nice inside once they decorated. I know it didn't cost them anywhere near $5000.  So its definitely doable.
