When to look at Invitations?

Hi Ladies- I met my first invitation vendor this weekend and I was told that it takes 4-6 months for invitations to come in. Do all vendors take 4-6 months?

Originally I thought I was ahead of the game looking at invitations 7 months out, but I guess not. I got a little nervous because my wedding coordinator suggested having our tasting 3 months to finalize the menu....I guess I will have to schedule it sooner to since our guests have to select their menu choices ahead of time.

    There's such a range...I purchased mine from an online vendor and they were delivered in a week. On the other hand, if you're having something custom designed and printed, it could take much longer to go through several versions of the design, etc.

    I would be shocked, however, if the printing alone took several months. You should at least be able to nail down most of the design, and just add in the entree choices right before the response cards are printed.

    We're just starting to look at invites and our person said they take about 3 months. I can't imagine that they'd actually take 6. It could just be your person is overly cautious or the brands you are looking at take extra time.

    I'd shop around some more.

    I had mine custom designed and the entire process took about a month. I'd definitely shop around.

    Once the proofs are signed off, my invites should take about 3 weeks to print.

    Thanks ladies! I was shocked when she told me how long they would take -especially since I am not customizing anything, other than maybe fonts.

    Yeah that's a long time for invites to come in.  I've heard most people have them within a month unless they are doing something extravagant to them.
