Which member of your fiance / husband's family has been hardest to befriend? Which has taken the most time and has had the most distance with you? MIL? FIL? SIL?

    FIL. We've only had one "conversation" with me....him rambling at me about how it's state law in TX to wear a seat belt.... and I *was* wearing my seatbelt. It's gonna be awkward under the mandap.

    I've been super lucky. I get along with his whole family! I get along with them then my own some times. They all tell me personal things and go don't tell FI about it. I think it's cute and I love it!

    Thankfully, I get along with H's family. His family is small and mine is large, but it works out. We both get along with each other's families so that's a huge relief!

    My family is big, his family is small.  We haven't spent too much time together since my schedule has me working many weekends.  His family is sooo sweet and I hope that we all get to hang out more!!

    All of them are hard for me to get along with.

    They're all very traditional, so they expected him to let his parents choose a younger, shy/quiet, traditional Indian wife for him. Instead he brought home a somewhat off-beat, outspoken, single-parent, white woman who's older than he is by four years.

    Let's just say it's not gone over well. I disagree with the way they do some things, they disagree with the way I do many things, and it's been difficult on our relationship, especially lately. Hence the living apart and seeking counseling thing.
