Overhwelmed searching for a venue.

I became engaged almost a month ago. We are on a very tight budget (entirely self paid) and really hoping to have the wedding this fall (looking at October 22nd). I know I technically have enough time, but I want to find a venue ASAP so that I can deal with everything else. I feel like things will start to fall into place after I know where we are having the ceremony and reception. I was looking into renting a vacation property, so we could do our own food and decorations and have everything in one spot.. with the ceremony on the beach (if we found a beach house) or in the yard if we found a house with enough space. However, it seems everything is either way too big or way too small or too close to other houses. Then, just when I think Ive found the perfect spot, I email the owner only to find that they dont allow weddings on their property.  I also looked into the clearwater rec center and the st pete rec center... but after all is said and done I think they will still be too expensive, especially considering we'd need to rent a hotel room nearby. Do any of you have other ideas? I know I could just have it at a park, but Id rather not have my reception at the park... and so then Id still be looking for a reception hall that would allow late hours and for us to bring our own alcohol. I feel like I've been searching non stop for the last month. Any ideas would be awesome. We're looking no further than an hour drive from Tampa. Clearwater/St Pete/Reddington are all fine. There will be no more than 50 guests at the ceremony. Thanks for reading my "rant" and for your help, in advance. :)

thanks for the help so far guys, Im looking into it. The st pete womens club is booked every Saturday for October and November already though. :( Im not ruling out a Friday... but Id rather not, since it makes it harder on my out of town guests.

I don't want to scare you but you are definitely cutting it really close. Since the venue is really the first thing a bride has to choose it is usually done around months 12-10. The garden at Ybor museum is relatively inexpensive and if you set it up properly you could definitely host the ceremony and reception in the same place. The only issue here is that there isn't an oning covering the entire garden, but there is however one big enough to cover tables and chairs for 50 people. Renting a tent is expensive, so IMO it'd be more worth it to chance it.

I loved the Sailing Center, it was cheap enough and pretty large. I can show you pics if you want!

    Looking into the garden center..

and krystal, my only issue with the sailing center is they will no longer be allowing you to bring your own food/alcohol and if you want catering it has to be on their list of preferred caterers.

Oh booooo! The main reason I picked them was because we brought in our own kegs and bottles of wine and we had a BBQ guy on site! I wonder what type of vendors are on their "approved" list...

ash are you open to a Sunday or a holiday day?Like columbus day or Labor day (the actual day not the weekend). Also you could ask the venues that are too expensive or booked for a Saturday dinner if they are available or cheaper for  a breakfast/ brunch wedding

How much were you thinking of spending? Sometimes it's cheaper to use a restaurant that doesn't charge a fee for using the space, and then the money you save there can be used for food/alcohol.

On a side note, The Rusty Pelican in Rocky Point has rooms of various sizes as well as a ceremony site right on the water. We looked into a brunch wedding and they really weren't that expensive. They include the tables and chairs and some linen options.

    Good luck!!

Thank you guys. Right now we are very seriously considering the ybor museum. I talked with someone there and had the contract sent to me. We're going to look at it Saturday and then hopefully find a way to get the deposit down so we can lock the date. I'm excited, but I don't want to get my hopes up yet. I'll be sooooo glad when we have a set venue.
