Invitations...*headdesk*

I'm slowly working on invitations so they'll be ready to go on April 1st.  Mom and I worked on getting them stuffed and the inner envelopes done over Christmas Break.  While I was working on them today, I realized one of us misspelled Brian as "Brain"...so I get to re-do that one.

Also, when Relient K said "I'll take calligraphy and then I'll make a fake degree," in "College Kids," I don't think they understood what they were saying.  Calligraphy is not easy.  At all.  However, Twix did suggest printing the address directly on the invitation in a light grey script font and tracing over that with the ink (we can't remember if it was on here or the June 2011 board) and it's been a lifesaver.  Doing these without something to trace would look like a 6 year old did them.

I would feel your pain ... but my mom is going to address all of the invites for me.  She was like "I am going to write each letter one at a time!"  :-)  It's hard to get them all correct though.  When I helped my SIL address her invitations in 2004, I actually messed up on an envelope.  I would DEFinitely say if you plan to have other people help out on the addressing, to order extra envelopes so kelly the clutz doesn't mess up too badly!  :-)

I think I saw that bit about printing in gray and then tracing over it - maybe it was on the Etiquette board or something.  That is an absolutely BRILLIANT idea!!!

I comend you for even trying something like that. I will be lucky if mine just look neat in regular handwriting, I am starting on mine as well. Gotta love those "duh" moments! Good luck

Cool! You should post a picture of one when it is done (blacking out the last name/most of the address, of course). I bet they will look amazing! I could never be skilled enough to do that. I am just using my teacher printing to address mine haha!

31 are totally finished.  145 to go.

I can't find my camera right now, but I'll try to remember to get a pic up tomorrow after church.  I'm hoping to have most of them done before I go home for the weekend...if only school wouldn't get in the way... :)

yikes yeah I'm not looking forward to starting that next week.....mine will very much be in my regular handwriting, which is pretty connected for not being cursive, so it will do :)

    Good luck!

Instead of doing calligraphy the way you would normally do it, my mother (who has much better penmanship than I do) is going to address the invitations in her own cursive with a calligraphy pen. If it's giving you a lot of problems, maybe you can do that.

This is pretty much what I did.  Three Saturdays of my life I'll never get back!  Here's what they looked like:

Wow. that's impressive Emily. We are printing them in our printing... errr.. print(ed) them in our printer. I could NOT have done calligraphy.

That IS impressive!!  Sorry about your boo boo but if it makes you feel better:

I thought I proofed the invitations but AFTER I mailed them, I found three different mistakes.  I already made the programs and now have to RE-make them because we just added a flower girl (Yay!!), and FMIL just asked me to send out another invitation to one of her friends, and I also just added like 10 invitations from FMIL's family.  So don't worry about yours.  :)

Um, I have great handwriting but I am defnitely printing them!  We are inviting over 200 people and I don't want to even think about how badly my carpal tunnel syndrome would be after all of that writing!  Not to mention the postal service would prefer that you print them, lol.  But congrats on doing that!  I can't wait to see them!

I don't suppose you are printing off or using labels on your thank you notes, then?  It's the thank you notes that nearly gave me carpal tunnel, not the invites!
