marraige license

any idea how long it takes to get your marriage certificate? I filed for our license in Brooklyn. I need my certificate within 30 days to get my husband on my health insurance. Kind of starting to panic, we got married June 8.

Re: marraige license

  • 2 weeks in nyc usually
  • Where did you go in Brooklyn to file for your marriage license? I also live in Brooklyn and was wondering how the process works.
  • You can ask your officiant for a copy of the signed marriage license in the meantime. Most officiant keep a copy. If you need it same day you are ale to go to the clerk's office and obtain it in person same day.
  • I got married in Manhattan June 9 and still don't have mine either.
  • I got married on May 20 and got mine in the mail 2 days ago.
  • Wow, so that was five weeks, not the two weeks they said!

I had terrible trouble with the officiant and have been worried mine would not be correct, so the delay has been stressful. Good to know it's probably okay still!

</div><div>both my officiant and planner now told me 2-6 weeks-- it's crazy because my job only gives me 30days from my wedding date to change medical insurance, wetc etc. So my HR will accept a copy of the signed marriage license that was sent into the state as well as a notarized letter from my officiant saying that we were married.  It stinks waiting so long-- just want to get moving with changing my name, ssn, driver'slicense, ccs--eveything!

  • My officiant didn't make a copy. We just have to wait. Thankfully, our insurance just took our word for it.
