NWR: deck pictures

Here MrsK, for your viewing pleasure. And for those of you listening to my complain and gripe about this thing for the last two months. We're so close to being done.

That's the back of our house originally. I'm really impressed about the height of the wires actually, now that I see this photo. Time Warner is coming out tonight because our cable wire is sagging so low that you literally have to duck to walk across the deck. Huh, weird

In case the incredibly dumb instagram filter doesn't make it obvious enough, those are the posts. The holes had to be 42" deep (below the frost line) and we had 16 of them. The posts were obviously cut to size afterwards. Our yard looked crazy cause these started at 12' high before going in the ground and getting cut.

*Pretend instagram doesn't exist. I have no pictures of this beast, the dumb filters are entirely FI's doing*

Framing. The main part of the deck is 12'x24'. That extension is an additional 4'x8' the stairs now come off of. Then it steps down onto an additional 8'x10' to meet our screened in porch.

We went right over the existing deck. The thing is only as high as we made it to accomodate our cellar doors. Otherwise it would have been much shorter.

Both sets of stairs are custom made, since no lumber yards or hardware stores make stringers long enough.

An additional $500 we didn't plan on spending to move the electric meter. Also note that our fence went to the back corner of our house, not our porch, like we fought to do. Codes for our town says back corner, we argued we had two since our porch is there. They said no. Jokes on them now.

Railings are going up. That's where we're at now. That's the step up to the main part of the deck form the 8'x10' section that connects to our porch.

Step down to the back door. The only way to keep from losing our door to this porject. All because we insisted on making the deck high enough for the cellar doors to open under. It's these little details that hung us up a lot. And don't worry, that post isn't load bearing at all, should you notice it's not attached, haha.

Anyways, you're all invited to come party on the thing when it's done, so get to NY!
