Who is actually pressing charges against Amanda Marks?

All I've seen on the boards are people who are griping and complaining about how she screwed them over, but they aren't doing anything. Even if Stacy Marks and Nolaave are trying to fix the problems, no one is holding Amanda herself responsible. This woman purposefully stole and wasted all of these bride's money and never actually cared about their weddings. Why is everyone letting her get away with all this and letting everyone one else clean up her mess?

I thought I saw something in the news story about people pressing charges, but I'm not sure. I think at this point, she doesn't have anything to go after, but I know if I were in these brides' situation, I would definitely press charges regardless.
  • You could always sue her to get the pictures, even if you don't get the albums, touchups or whatever.  Then you could at least have the pictures and do what you want with them.
  • well, she getting away with all this. She had her court date today and she was advised to sue the judge and city for about 150,000. Becuase apparently in LA, its not a crime to scam brides out of their money and photos. I hate this state. She gets to walk away with everyone's money and memories, and then she's going to sue and get 150,000. Just isnt right.
  • What?! What grounds does she have to sue the judge and city? There is no way that holding her accountable for the failure to provide promised (and paid for) services is grounds for a lawsuit.

I hope that every single bride she has scammed files an individual lawsuit against her, taking her to the cleaners financially and ruining her professional reputation.
  • I'm in the process of pressing charges. I thank Stacy and Nolaave for their help, but I want Amanda held responsible. I want her to do jail time ad/or pay a fine. I know she has another court date in May, but I don't know what it's about. Her lawyer is scum. I have sent things to the detective that the DA put me in contact with and I hope to have formal charges soon. I also encourage ALL brides to contact the detective and start the process of filing charges. I have all the contact information for anyone who wants it.
  • Also, she would have to sue Jefferson Parish because it was the Jefferson Parish DA that pressed the charges, not NOPD or the Metairie police which doesn't exist... it's the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's office. This makes no sense. What grounds does she have to sue?
  • Also, trying to civilly sue her gets you nowhere because she doesn't respond to anything. Now, her location is unknown and I've heard she's either shacking up with a regular from Vision's or living in a hotel. She has no assets. Also, the thing is is that we paid her for the albums, too... Not just the pictures. I am luckily to have my photos, but I paid her about 1200 for the albums. Am I to just eat this money? No. I shouldn't have to. She can't just take my money and suffer no consequences and hold no accountability. Sorry, this topic drives me nuts!! O'm off my soapbox!
  • I know that she doesn't think that she's going to have any negative outcomes. She's fully expects to be able to move away and start over with a different name. I have been so pissed that she has, so far, walked away unscathed. I cant stand people who are so deceptive and heartless. Thats why I posted this because it just seems like everyone is letting her off the hook, and she's going to move and do it all again to other brides. She doesn't care about her name being trash in NOLA anymore ( never did) because she knows she can change her name. And one plan that was floated around was that she might not do weding photography anymore, but portraits. So, she's got a plan to move forward.
  • If she moves and begins a new business with a new name, could you let us know her new name if you know what it is?
