Proximity of Reception to Ceremony

Would like to get some feedback on ceremony and reception locations.  I've found my reception venue in Laguna Beach although I still need to find a Catholic Church for my ceremony.  Is it a must to have the church location be near the reception venue?  I'd like to have the ceremony in my neighborhood catholic church in Walnut but I'm concerned about the distance from this to Laguna Beach.  Is it unrealistic for me to expect that my guests will travel to Walnut first and then to So. OC for the reception?  Thoughts are appreciated!

I don't know where Walnut is, so I can't answer that.  I think the drive between church and reception should be 30 minutes or less.

Eh. That is about an hour drive...which is too long IMO. I would try and find a church closer to your venue. Maybe your venue can suggest some surrounding churches.

It's really hard to get married in a Catholic Church that you are not a parishoner at. If you would really like to have your wedding at your church, your guests will have to understand. This is a day for you and your FI and if your church means a lot to you, don't make that sacrafice.

if you're set on getting married in your church, is there a venue closer to you that is similar to what you found in laguna?

I think an hour is a little too far from ceremony to reception. Talk to your church and see if they have any recommendations. Maybe your priest can perform the ceremony at a church in Laguna as a visiting priest. Or if you have at least 6 months, start calling churches in the area and see if you can get married at a church near Laguna.

I'm in the same situation. The venue that i want is 45 mins from my church. I haven't been able to find any place half as nice for close to the price closer to my church. In my case, my family will be coming from the church area and FI's family is more towards the reception area. So everyone would be driving a distance. I'm still very unsure of what to do.
Interested to see what your plans are. Or to bump for more in put.

I realize you aare probably already finished planning your wedding but just a suggestion- what about Saint catherines in Laguna Beach? I hope that's where you ended up choosing- that's where my parents were married too!
