Main course dinner options

Hey girls, I need some help! Fi and I went to our food tasting and are having a hard time with our decision on the main courses (buffet style). We chose a beef tenderloin, and a chicken rollatini, but we get to pick 3. Neither of us like seafood so we didn't even taste the salmon or tilapia. We thought at the time we would chose a different chicken option for the 3rd selection. Now that I'm really thinking about it, we should have a seafood dish to offer rather than a 2nd chicken dish. We have 135 guests so we need to have a wide selection. SO... My question is. Would you prefer tilapia or salmon? And for you seafood lovers, what do you think would be most popular of the two at the wedding? I'm nervous to offer something we haven't tasted but I think we have to offer a seafood dish. For variety sake I'd offer a fish. Tilapia is a milder fish and goes over well with most diners. Salmon is hands down more popular among fish lovers. I normally take the salmon if it's offered at a wedding.(Most weddings in my area are plated dinners Beef-Chicken-Fish options, vegetarian upon request). If i had to chose in that scenario as much as I love fish I'd probably skip the tilapia. Though you are having a buffet so I'd probably take a small bit of each rather than a whole meal worth of one no matter what you pick. So If you are looking to have something more of your guests would take some of I'd go with the tilapia. If your looking to please the fish lovers at your wedding that might not eat chicken or beef go with the salmon.

As a food lover period, I'd choose the salmon. However, if you are offering it to wedding guests and don't know that they are "foodies", I'd probably go with the tilapia. Most people like fish of some type, but salmon is not always on their list.

I'd go with salmon. I like tilapia, but only prepared certain ways otherwise it can get a fishy taste. Also, more people will recognize salmon.

To me, salmon can be overcooked easily, which tends to happen in banquet settings, so I would go tilapia.

Good salmon>Good tilapia

Overcooked Tilapia>Overcooked salmon

It would depend on how it's being cooked - I LOVE Salmon, especially when smoked on a cedar plank.

This seems 50/50! Thanks everyone for the input! I don't know of any vegetarians that will be attending (that I can think of) but it will be beef tenderloin, chicken rollatini, and whichever fish option. And then garlic mash potatoes, honey glazed carrots, broccoli, ceaser salad in a buffet. In the cocktail hour we have 7 different hand passed options with a great variety.

My vote is salmon.

Make sure your caterer can whip something up for a vegetarian, just in case! Might as well ask ahead of time rather than freak out when a guest calls asking about it and you don't know what to tell them.
