Old postcards. I'm trying to figure out a way to incorporate them with our destination wedding invites.

What wedding-related project are you tackling this January?
All things paper. I've special ordered some cardstock from Archivers and I'm just waiting for it to come in so I can get started.

I'm wearing some of my mom's jewelry - a pearl necklace and diamond stud earrings. I'm also wearing a brooch on my sash that is a Jackie Kennedy reproduction (found it on qvc.com).
    That's pretty vintage ;-)

We're making our card box out of an old guitar.  My idea, but my fiance is doing the work of fixing up the guitar, adding a card slot, and pinstriping a design in our wedding colors

What wedding-related project are you tackling this January?
no DIY projects for me this month.. but we just picked out flowers and are looking into booking the honeymoon (Paris, France !)

I wanted to find something art nouveau inspired (my fiance's favorite), but haven't had much luck yet.  I might try to find a pearl necklace to go with the pearl earrings he gave me.  Or skip the necklace & pearls and go with new earrings and a bracelet. maybe these:

What's your latest retro/vintage idea/inspiration? This month my inspiration is art. Lots and lots of art. Old paintings, picture frames, old drawing books, postcard art, charcoal drawings, antique portraits, etc. We've been visiting a lot of thrift stores and antique shops. We're trying to find a few wooden frames, big small and in between, to paint and hang from the trees to use as a prop or a backdrop for our friends to have their photos taken with. We will also have an easel set up for our artist friend's to do our portraits, and other things, with charcoal and/pastels.

What wedding-related project are you tackling this January?
We are meeting with a friend of the family that is a photographer and figuring out if we can afford a professional photographer or not. I really need to work on my save-the-dates. I have a couple graphics that we want to print and use layers of paper to create save-the-date cards with. I'll post what we come up with for opinions. Trust me, I will need your opinions!!! We are also going to do a mock-up of our dining tables, and figured out what we really want. I'm also searching for the perfect shoes, jewelry, and veil idea to go with my gown, We're going on a day trip to a nearby cute little town that we LOVE visiting to look for the perfect wedding ring for me!!! Another thing we're doing is making more payments on my gown and I think I've picked out my bridesmaids, jr bridesmaids, and flower girl dress! I just need to get together with my girls to see what they think. We're doing tons of stuff this month! Crazy!

I'm trying to figure out what will compliment my gown perfectly. I'm leaning towards some pretty chandelier earrings and a group of dainty matching bracelets on one arm. My colors are very dark so I'm looking for jewelry with black and maybe clear stones. I really need to take a shopping trip to the mall, that's about an hour away, to see what I can find. Here's some earrings that I like....

Lately it has been mason jars, now I am just figuring out what i can do with them besides put the girls bouquets in them after the ceremony.  I also got a beautiful white owl from my mom for Christmas that will definitely go at our table. Our theme is birds mainly but I have two owls that are TOO cute to leave out.  I promise I am updating my bio today with pics of them:)

What wedding-related project are you tackling this January?
This month we are 4 months away so here's the to-do list: figure out cake (FI's mom has someone in mind), pick out tuxes, buy wedding rings, book honeymoon, book limo (done), send info. e-mail to OOT guests (done), get bleach trays for my teeth (Appt. next week), call alterations lady (left message last night), buy shoes, bra, make-up and spanx!! I am a tiny bit stressed because FI doesn't like my "get things done" attitude. He is way more laid back and knows that we will get things done...and doesn't feel like we need to rush. Ugh. I guess we do balance each other out which is great, but I feel like we are getting so close!!

My jewelry will be very simple. I will wear a diamond bracelet from my grandma-SO VINTAGE looking, plain diamond studs and a necklace I got for Christmas from my mom-three diamonds in a triangle shape on a simple silver chain.

I have been very into all things victorian lately.  I am hoping to wear orange blossoms in my hair and maybe incorporate some of the traditions from that era into my theme

What wedding-related project are you tackling this January?

Well, by the end or March or the beginning of April, I am hoping to have my Save the Date cards sent, which means I need to find a photographer and have engagement pictures taken before then!

I think I am just going to do simple pearls.  I have very understated taste in jewelry

    What's your latest retro/vintage idea/inspiration?
Making my own cake stands!  I've posted some more info under my ideas and inspiration blog in my bio if you're interested, but I'm going to hit up the second hand stores here in Japan to get started soon!

What wedding-related project are you tackling this January?

This January I went back to Canada for a couple weeks so I got a lot done!  I addressed my save the dates, bought my wedding dress, found the bridesmaids dresses, found Matt's and his groomsmens' tuxes, shopped with mum for her MOB dress (and found TWO!), found my sixpence coin, did our cake taste-testing, and I've just started discussing the design of our wedding invitations with our designer.  We were supposed to have our engagement photoshoot done too, but had things postponed due to the weather.  Oh well.  :)

The only jewelry I have planned to wear so far is the tiny gold locket my mummu gave me when I was born.  I'd like to have two tiny pictures of my mummu and vaari put inside it like I've always wanted.  I think if I wear any earings I was thinking I might get something like this:

  • Hello! Our wedding is November 21, 2010 and we are having a vintage peacock theme.

    What's your latest retro/vintage idea/inspiration?

Old fashioned soda shop! We are going to have a candy bar with vintage candy and cocoa cola bottles for our favors. For those interested, our candy list includes a chewy mix (Mary Janes, Bit o Honey, etc), clove candy sticks, spice jelly beans, rock candy, and Hersheys. There is an old fashioned soda shop in our town and we are thinking about getting dressed up and having our engagement pictures taken there. We can display them on the candy bar table.

What wedding-related project are you tackling this January?

We are booking our venue this Wednesday! We have already purchased our guest "book" (a singature frame to hang in our house) and the supplies we need for our invitations, reply cards, placecards, and cake toppers - these things are being made and handpainted by my matron of honor who is an artist.

I'm wearing the strand of pearls that my Mimi left me when she passed away. I have a lot of piercings so I think the emphasis is going to be on taking those out for a day and having a much more simple look. Maybe some pearl earrings, but other than my ring that's it!
