I'm sure we all have a wedding expense that everytime u look at your contract it still gives you sticker shock ........ Mine would be my flowers 4500. Everytime I look at it I need a glass of wine but I absolutely LOVE what I'm getting I wish I could post a pic but I'm not sure how.

Lol that's what I have to keep telling myself to keep from crying lol. But hey what's done is done. And in the wedding industry they don't believe in refunds.

Everything! I can't beleive how much all of this costs! The reception is one, for sure, that I can't look at the "total" number. When you talk in $XX per person, it all sounds so normal. And then you get the contract and they multiple $XXpp by the contracted number of guests and it doesn't seem so normal!

If I had to pick an area that is unexpectedly high, it would also be floral. I totally wanted to do non-floral centerpieces and have a really low flower budget....but that went right out the window once I started looking around. But I love my flowers, and every time I look at the contract and am startled by the number, I pull up the pictures of the mocked up flowers and think that it will be so worth it!

I havent looked into flowers yet so reading this makes me nervous!

My splurge was definitely my photographer...expensive because we picked more of the options and very worth it!

I think in terms of "WOW REALLY?" moments, I wasn't all that surprised by the caterer's numbers. Although it's a down-payment on a house, I expected it to be exorbitant.

I wasn't all that shocked by florals, either, except the one florist's quote for me which was $11,500. Needless to say, I yelled at her for not even considering the budget I told her and for wasting my time. (And I didn't choose her anyway.)

I think it depends on what u want from your florist I mean I am getting alot for it but sheeshh! And the caterer I don't even want to get started..... But in the end I know it will all be worth it.

I felt the same way and I was so nervous about flowers!! I met with Lisa at Pennypack flowers in the NE. I got an AWESOME deal!! I am paying almost $1100 and getting:

18 centerpieces
my bouquet (which is roses, orchids, bells of ireland and queen anns lace)
my 6 girls bouquets (white freesia, lisanthius, bells of ireland and queen anns lace)
A pomander ball for the flower girl
All my groomsmen boutineers (all orchids)
Corsages for readers and grandparents

I did not go crazy with over ordering flowers but I think I got a great deal!
