Is this rotten?

Some of you may remember our Priest cancelled on us at the last minute (literally as we were walking out of our final meeting) because he'll be out of town and handed us over to the Deacon. I didn't pick him, I don't really care for the things he has said and I was pretty devastated over the whole ordeal. There's a lot more to it, but that's the main point.

I'm thinking of not giving any kind of gift to the church (we've already paid the wedding fees) and not tipping the officiant, because we did not choose him, he hasn't been terribly easy to work with and I'm not happy with the whole situation.

Thoughts?

No, it's not rotten. A tip is a reward for the service and in this case you've been getting bad service. I know it's not exactly the same since it's a church but still. You've paid your fees, you're fine.

I agree with this 100%.

I also just want to commiserate with you because our JOP backed out with a little over a month to go and we had to scramble to find someone. It's really uncomfortable and a crappy situation to be in. :(

I would not tip at all. You paid your fees and you are getting horrible service like PP said. Sorry you are dealing with that!

Thank you ladies! I feel a lot better now. Etiquette isn't everything to me (I'm not psycho like that board about it haha) but I certainly didn't want to do something awful.
