My Fiance and I had a terrible experience at Friar Tux Shop in Huntington Beach and wanted to share so maybe others can avoid the headache.
We walked in two Saturdays ago and the sales associate Eric helped us by walking through the various suits and tuxes available to rent and buy. He is obviously extremely uncomfortable being a sales person because he seemed to have every aspect of the hour or so we spent with him memorized from a script. It was very unnatural and awkward to say the least. So Fiance gets measured, tries on different sizes to make sure we order the correct size in the suits and tuxes we pick out, Eric gathers our contact information and we set up an appointment for the following Saturday at 11 for my fiance to try everything on.
So the next Saturday rolls around and we show up for our appointment and we are greeted by Eric who has no idea who we are, even though we were just there 7 days prior. He checks the back room for our suits and tuxes and comes back to tell us the another employee sent back out order by mistake.
When we ask why this happened he said it was a mistake and that he could have them back in the store by 6 pm that day but we already had plans and with the holidays, we didn't have much free time between work and travel until next year. I understand mistakes happen but I don't see why he couldn't have called us before our appointment to tell us not to come. Obviously they deal in volume and not excellent service because their staff is beyond incompetent -- they are awkward and rude.
While we were trying to come up with a solution to their error, Eric continuously answered the phone for frivolous calls while we were just standing there. When I asked him why I should believe that this wouldn't happen right before my wedding, when we actually needed the suit/tux on time, Eric said that if I was not satisfied with the level of service I received at Friar Tux I was free to go elsewhere. DONE!
Stay far, far away from Friar Tux and Eric!
