banquet hall reviews

Ladies,
have any of you visited (or had your wedding) at Chateu Bu-Sche (Alsip), DiNolfos (Homer Glen, Mokena), Georgios of Orland?!
what were your experiences?  we are planning a small wedding 50-70 people?! and are not sure where we can find a nice hall with reasonable prices!
Thank you!

    I've been to:
Chateu Bu-Sche, but not since I was about 14, so I don't remember much. A friend went there recently, said 'wedding was ok, place kinda run down'.

DiNolfos: I've been to about 4 weddings in the Homer Glen location, no complaints. Very pretty when you first walk in. The last wedding I went to at Homer Glen was the room with the stairs and there was a balcony. She had roughly 150 people, so not sure if it matters guest size wise, but that room was nice. Bride hated the carpets though, but once all the tables were in place, didn't notice. My cousin had her ceremony here in another room, which we were unable to attend, but I liked that it wasn't on the dance floor.

DiNolfos Mokena-. I hadn't been to awedding there, but live nearby, so stopped in to check it out. Wasn't impressed. I think the location kinda sucks. White Castles Dennys Super 8, Gas Station, all too close, it makes it kinda less appealing.

I had no complaints inside other than the guy who showed us around was kinda an a-hole. The 3rd time he said 'you pay x amount deposit, and if the wedding doesn't happen, you don't get your money back', my mom and I walked out on him. It was just rude of him to say that so many times in a 20 minute tour that 'the wedding gets called off, you don't get your money back'. He didn't impress us much.

Also here, they didn't have a separete ceremony room, so if doing ceremony at same spot, have to get married on dance floor.

Georgios-This was a contendor for us. My parents have been to several weddings there, and no complaints any time. I looked, the woman who showed us around was reallly nice. The only thing I can't remember is if they had a separate ceremony room or not. I want to say yes. But I liked that Comfort Suites was attached, so if guests (or your WP) need a place to stay, you don't need to even worry about shuttle. And the bar Zantes is next door, if you need some late night partying action.

Overall, I'd suggest either DiNolfo's Homer Glen or Georgios. Good luck!

Thank you so much for such an elaborate answer!  It was very helpful!  Now I know what places we should book appointments at and go from there.  Btw, how is your wedding planning comming along?! did you book a venue yet? set the date?

When I checked out the one in Alsip, they were so incredibly rude to us and I have no idea why.  They barely walked us around and hurried us (we were in and out in like 10  minutes)  I was immediately turned off by the experience.   I think your other options sound much better.

Im having my ceremony and reception at Chateau-Bu Sche. The prices are amazing and we are locked in with this years rates for next year! Everyone was really nice to us there. We took a tour on a Friday night, I went back the next morning to book it with a deposit. So far everyone has been really helpful. We are having the ceremony in the Atrium, dinner in the hall attached, and then dancing back in the atrium (this way the entire floor is for dancing and there is still tables for people who still want to sit and chat). I fell in LOVE with 1 room (tamerlane) which is why I went back the next day to book...but there are minimums for the rooms (150 for mine) but I'm not sure what the minimum is for a Friday night (mine is a Saturday).

They offer an option for including the cake as well but there prices were so well we were able to upgrade certain things like the bar and appetizers for our cocktail hour. If you do decide to go look there I would suggest going during the week one evening if possible because they WILL NOT allow you to view rooms while there is an event going on (which I thought was perfect!)

We went and looked at Georgios and I had only heard good things but I felt very rushed while we were given the tour and I was less than impressed with the rooms. We liked the windows in the rooms...but you could only see the parking lot and HATED there were no chair covers included (my fiance is a stickler on the chair covers, he would not budge). If we didn't want to have the ceremony on the dance floor with the tables set up the other room was the smallest room available on the other side of the hall for an extra room rental fee. The ups to this place were definately the hotel attached and Zantes in the parking lot. The outside of the hall didn't offer much of a backdrop for any pictures you may have been planning on taking at the hall after the ceremony.

We were going to look at DiNolfos after Bu-Sche but we never made it since we booked so quickly with them. Hope this helped.

Chateau Bu-Sche: This was a really big contender for us at first, because I think the outside is gorgeous and I really liked the atrium room. HOwever I hated how small the banquet room for dinner was. I have also heard from a few people that the food was not very good. That ultimately ruled it out for us.

Georgio's: A little biased here since this is where we chose! I have had a wonderful experience working with Georgio's so far. Their package includes so much and for a very reasonable price. I love that the hotel is attached and they give the newlyweds a wedding night suite included. The cake, centerpieces, etc. are also included. We are having our ceremony there as well in a separate banquet room. Their food is also really good! We did our tasting a few months back, and loved it .
