I got married on July 17 and had my reception at the Inn at Erlowest in Lake George. We picked it because it was a beautiful location and we wanted to get married in Lake George and our first choice The Sagamore was undergoing ownership changes at the time.
I'm writing this after someone from the Inn found an old post of mine and basically blamed my vents (which I made on a national board) and blamed me for them seven months after the fact. They claimed their high staff turnover was the cause of my problems and therefore my problem. Yes, it's my problem that three executive chefs quit in between the time I booked my wedding and the time it occured. I think not.
Anyway, the food was great even though it was not served until nearly 9 pm. The location was beautiful. Most guests didn't notice any of the behind the scene problems (although several remarked that they were not asked how they wanted their steak cooked). I did not see the wedding coordinator the entire night even though she was supposed to be attending to my needs. She instead sent a 16 year old waiter (who was great) to help me out.
My photographer and his assistant were not fed even though I insisted the night before that all my vendors be fed and I paid for their meals. I was charged $400 to stay in a room the night before my wedding (no discounts for brides paying over $25k).
The wedding was lovely and I'm enjoying my marriage but I figured since they wanted to come to the knot and attack me I may as well post my review finally.
I still think it's a great place to have a reception. I would just hire a professional wedding coordinator and be prepared to do business with a revolving door of chefs and managers.
