October 2012 Weddings

guest bags

I've decided not to do guest bags, my guests will be at different hotels and I hate to say it but i just don't feeling spending the money or time on them

Re: guest bags

  • This. I just can't deal with taking on another project!

  • I agree - Not doing much for out of town guests.   I wish i new more about this stuff when i was planning my budget.

If i had plan for this type of stuff in the begining then i would of budgeted and there for would have money for it.

I don't know about most but this is the 3rd wedding I will go to.  So i don't know much about outcomes.  The last two i went to were after the planning processes.  The Knot only helped so much. :-(

  • I agree. It's just another thing that the wedding industry has cooked up as something we all HAVE to do other wise we're bad people/brides.

I've already spent enough money on my guests by feeding them and providing them with drinks and favours. Plus we have so few guests stay at hotels that it's just not worth the extra time and money to run around and put these bags together.

  • I had never even heard of these until I started hanging out on The Knot, I never planned on doing this.
It doesn't have to be perfect to be everything I want!

  • We're doing them but not because we feel we have to. We're doing them because we want to and have found cost-effective ways to do it.  I think we still may have to scale back our original idea because we were going to do something a bit more elaborate but that's about it.

I don't think by any means it's a big deal not to do them. Over 1/2 of our wedding is traveling so we just wanted to do a bit more to welcome them and help them feel comfortable.

Same thing with us. We got lucky - we're paying for our wedding, and we didn't really have budget for this - but my mom loved the idea and offered to do this for us.
  • Almost my whole family is 500+ miles away so I'm doing them, but only for the out of town guests.  If people booked rooms, but live nearby, I'm not giving them out to them.
