October 2012 Weddings

Ohhhh nooooo! WWYD?

AH! The forecast for this Saturday for my wedding location just went from sunny and warm (yesterday) to a 50% chance of rain with a cold front moving in, the lows hiting 37!!!! 37 at the beginning of Oct in KENTUCKY?! Are you kidding me?!?!?! It's the only day with rain forecast in the foreseeable future!!!!!!!!!!

UGHHHH! We were supposed to get married outside of the barn, and then have the reception immediately following in the barn. I really, really, really, REALLY don't want to have the ceremony in the barn, then have to clean up and rearrange everything for the reception while our guests stand around. It's also breaking my heart to have to find a last minute tent and pay for it.

What would you ladies do? Anyone else in a similar situation?

  • I would relax there is still a couple days till the wedding and forcast could change... hopefully !!!

worse case I suppose you get married in the barn ...

OUr forcast says 45-50 Degrees... we are only outside for the ceremony, and photos so I think we will survive... we might be a little blue and cold but we shoudl be ok!...

    EEEK
    I am not sure lol

  • Is there a rental place near by?  Could you rent a tent to have set up outside?  I know I just checked the weather for here this Saturday 53 & rainy :-(  BUT remember rain on your wedding day is supposed to be a good sign.  That's what I keep telling myself lol.  But we're having an indoor wedding, but I love outside wedding pictures!

  • I would just let the next couple of days go by and if necessary, move the ceremony inside the barn.  I would not rent a tent, especially if I was stressing the financial part of it.

Sorry the part about the tent didn't click with me.  I've been so spacey the last couple days.  Anyway I've been pintresting.  What if you could spread the word for everyone to bring an umbrella.

it makes for great pictures later too

  • This is why I freaked out and changed my venue! It's nice that you do have the option of having inside if you need to, I would just go with that....
  • The barn has a covered patio that's 70x20 ft. I just emailed the venue coordinator to see how many people that could told. This way, we could rent a smaller tent and just stick it on the end of the porch.

There is no rain forecast for the next 10 days in my area, except for Saturday!

Oh me, oh my! I am a giant ball of stress!

  • Try to relax.  It's still Tuesday, and like you said, the forecast changed dramatically just yesterday.  It could change back.  At least you've already got a backup plan, although it isn't ideal.  I would probably wait until Thursday morning and if the forecast hasn't changed, and if you really want to get married outside, start contacting rental places for a tent.  Good vibes!!!

  • Assuming the tent is not in your budget (they can be really expensive) I would move the ceremony into the barn.  Maybe you can get small candles to line the aisle (if your dress isn't that enormous) to make it look really nice.  Considering the reception is in a barn I doubt it is a really formal wedding (I could be wrong).  If so, maybe your minister could ask some of the guests to help move the chairs, etc, at the end of the ceremony.

I have seen some really nice photos of the bride and groom underneath a golf umbrella, so even if it is raining you can still get some nice outdoor photos.

I hope it doesn't rain though!

  • Also I just checked the weather for my wedding on Sunday.  Friday is 82 and sunny, but by Sunday it is 63 and rainy.  I guess I might be moving my wedding inside too. :(

  • Remember the forecast is always changing.  Since the 10day forecast Saturday has shown 53 & rainy for me, that included this morning.  I just looked & its now 54 & partly cloudy with only a 20% chance of showers, instead of a 40% chance of rain.
