Invitation Help...

I'm not sending our invites out for months still, but I got my invites tonight (bought them early to use a great coupon) and I'm just wondering how you put the invitations together.  I know that everything goes in the inner envelope and then the inner goes in the outer envelope, but do you put the RSVP card in its envelope; or do you leave it out, but tuck it under the flap; or do you completely leave it out? Also, when putting the inner envelope in the outer envelope do you have the back of the inner one facing the same way as the back of the outer, or do you have it where when they open the outer one they see the names written on the front of the inner envelope?  Sorry for some of the wording and all of the questions, but I'm unsure of the proper etiquette on this, and didn't want to wait until right when I'm about to send everything and then ask this question.  Thanks!

Re: Invitation Help...

  • Yes, thank you :)  Another quick question- Do you put the seal on the outer or inner envelope?

Also the response card tucked under its flap goes on top of the invitation before sliding it into the envelope.
  • Thank you both :)

[QUOTE]Outer I believe. I guess it wouldn't really matter, but sometimes the post office can be really picky about any lumps or uneven-ness inside an envelope that they may charge you more for it, so I'd opt for the outer just so they can see what it is.

</div><div>You'd still get charged for a lump or odd shape even if the seal is visible, and something attached to the outside is likelier to fall off going through PO machinery.</div><div>
</div><div>I may be wrong, but I'm picturing a decorative seal - is that right, or are you talking about like a wax seal or a flat sticker type seal? Wax seal should go on the inner envelope, as should a decorative seal of any kind. I guess a sticker could go on either, but that might not be the best way to keep the envelope sealed as it is mailed.</div><div>
</div><div>The inner envelope should go in so that when guests open the outer envelope, they see their name. The inner envelope flap, in other words, should be placed against the outer envelopes front side.
