  I considered it, but then I thought either my FMIL would not approve or a guest would wear a similar color and it wouldn't stand out as much or be as special, at weddings guests KNOW not to wear white!  Are you including in your poll people that wear other colors for religious reasons?  I know in certain cultures wedding dresses are red.

  I had seriously considered wearing a red dress. Over the course of being involved with the weddings of familyand friends, I started thinking about what I would wear for a wedding dress. I love red. I'm not so big on white, being as pale as I am.
  
  Now that I'm planning my own wedding, I've decided against the red dress. I ended up with something ivory/off white with a bunch of red accessories (shoes, jewelry, possibly veil). As much as I hate the modern connotations of purity that's been assigned to the white wedding dress, I still romance of it.
  
  Amusingly, my FMIL was OK with the red shoes, but not a whole red dress. I half joking/half seriously suggested a red dress when we spotted one during a shopping trip. She said 'please don't. OK. I found her limit. If I was dead set on a red dress I would have pushed the issue, but as it was I'm happy with the red accessories.

  I really wanted an white and black gown, unfortunately I was not able to find one I liked or at least one that I liked in my price range.

  I personally wouldn't wear one.  I guess I always just pictured myself getting married in a traditional white/ivory wedding dress.
