Registry Must Haves!

What are some items that you put on your registry or gifts that you received which you thought were great to have? ....Other than the traditional items.... cutlery, dinnerware, etc

Re: Registry Must Haves!

  • Cuisinart Griddler -- awesome, we use it all the time

    Good casual dinnerware

    Really nice sheets and towels

  • We got a handheld pet vac that we use all the time.  Not sure if you have pets, but it's so convenient.
  • MrsG, I'm fascinated by the "pet vac" idea ... hope this isn't a stupid question, but is it really a way to vacuum a pet?  Seriously?  Is it quiet enough not to freak them out?  I have two cats and FI has three small dogs, so when we move in together, pet hair is going to be a constant issue.
  • Retread, I've never been able to get close enough to mine to try:  they head for the hills (or under the bed).  Frown
Maybe something smaller and quieter, though ... preferably spiked with catnip!
  • I have to second Avion - the cusinart griddler is amazing. I've also really enjoyed having a nice set of le crueset french onion soup bowls, a Kitchen Aid stand mixer and a collapsable Martha Stewart salad spinner (who wants to store one of those?). Also don't forget about servingware - it's really nice to have a chip and dip if you have people over a lot and some pretty canape plates.

  • My favorite gift from my registry was my set of mixing bowls. And if you bake. . . cookie sheets & any other bakeware. Second favorite gift was a set of wooden kitchen utensils. (Martha Stewart, nothing too fancy).

Not as traditional, we received two lamps that we wanted from Target.

Oh, and yes, a vacuum! We received the Shark Navigator Lift Away and LOVE it. Much cheaper than Dyson.

I do a lot of ingredient prep while cooking, so i've really enjoyed this set from Crate and Barrel:
And you'll always have just the right size bowl for what you need.

I've also really enjoyed my Calphalon Triply 8 quart stock pot. I had a cheap one before. I was really surprised at the difference it made to have a quality one. It heats up quickly and keeps the contents inside hot for awhile after you've turned off the heat.
This is the one I have:

We entertain a lot, especially in the summer for BBQ's, so our new casual serving wear has come in handy often.

Oh, and of corse I love my pretty red kitchaid stand mixer!

  • We love our mixing bowls, tupperware containers for storing leftovers (we cook a LOT), and our food processor.
  • A digital meat thermometer, if you cook. We never had one before, and now we just put it in the meat, set the desired temperature, and wait for it to beep letting us know dinner is done! I don't think I've ever overcooked anything since we got it :)

<div>Is this one that goes in the oven? Or can you use it on stove top meat as well? Would you mind linking the one that you have? </div>

  • I registered for some tools on Amazon.com. People will think they are for my fiance but they are for me!
