Candy Buffet Treat Bags/Containers

What bags/containers are you using for your candy buffets & where did you find them? I need about 330 bags/containers to hold unwrapped goodies like chocolate, cookies, pretzels, etc. I'm thinking about sticking monogram labels on the bags so the more plain the better. TIA!

I have no idea, but I was just thinking the same thing.  Hopefully someone has a good anwer :-)

How much candy are you planning for per person?

I'm not sure 100% sure about the exact lbs. because we're having so many other desserts that I'm having a tough time figuring out a nice balance between the two. It's a cultural tradition for every family (usually the matriarch) to bring a homemade cake or pastry to the reception so we're expecting 15-20 cakes in addition to our wedding cake. My mom likes the candy buffet idea, but thinks some sites recommending mountains of candy would be overkill for my wedding. Still, I've researched sites that say a candy bar looks pretty lame unless you have tons of candy displayed regardless of what you expect your guests to eat. Have you decided on a ballpark figure? If so, how did you come to this figure? Something I can share- my candy buffet will be on 1 round table with appx. 15 varieties of goodies: chocolates, sour candies, licorice, lollipops, nuts, pretzels, popcorn (caramel & regular), chocolate chip cookies, etc.

I have not put a lot of thought into it yet, just trying to figure out what types of candy now.  I think I heard somewhere that you should plan for half a pound per person, does that sound right to you?  Seems like a lot of candy to me!

That's what I've heard too & I thought it sounded high. I'm having 300 guests so 150 lbs of candy sounds like a lot. That's how much an average person weighs! I wonder if 150 lbs sounds like a lot to us right now, but once we start buying the candy we'll get close to that figure without even realizing it. I bought bags of 5 different types of chocolates after Halloween. I didn't think I walked out with a ton of candy, but I was able to fill 2 large storage bins (those that you store holiday decor in, etc.) & then some. I'm going to check out more goodies after Christmas & keep stocking up. Valentine's Day & Easter should have good sales on candy too, especially for our April weddings. GL!

I used Chinese containers which I got from http://www.cudge.net/. They were a nice size for me to put my monogram label on.  I bought 4-5 pounds of each type of candy and I had barely any left for 100 people.  There were about 17 types of candy.

I got the bulk candy from Costco and most of the rest from Target, and when you're their make sure you compare prices because sometimes it's cheaper and you get more if you buy two of the regular size bag versus the bulk bag.  I got covered pretzels from Sprouts, and candied popcorn from http://www.momandpopcorn.com/.

When pricing out candy, Target was cheaper than Fry's and Walmart.

I used 2 big plastic, but glass looking bowls from target to hold M&Ms and such for my wedding. I bought my favor tags from tinyprints.com, they were christmas/holiday stickers, so you could use small cellophane bags and close them with those stickers. They were 7 dollars for 24 of them.

    Gogalina -

We had over 20 cakes and pastries at our wedding. I have the pics to prove :). I had every guest take some home and they all left with something. I bought containers for that. I honestly think from our weddings that only kids would be interested in the candy. I mean some guests didn't even open my favor that I left on each plate.. (you know how that goes with peepz from our country). SO, I would be carefully of buying too much. :)

V, containers for the cakes is a really good idea. I've left so many weddings only to come home craving a piece of cake. :o) Both you & my mom are on the same page for the candy bar though. She thinks tons of candy will be overkill & that only the kids will partake. I've been to our weddings & noticed people don't even open the candy favors, which bums me out because you spend so much time planning/buying them & it seems like a waste. :o( I definitely don't want to buy too much candy that nobody will touch it. I'll have to limit my quantities to be safe. Thanks girls!
