The Golden Lamb Buttery?

Has anyone been to a wedding there? What were your thoughts?  Any and all feedback is welcome!

Thanks!

    this won't be a huge help - but i'm going to be in a wedding there next spring :)  a good friend of mine booked hers there for May 2012.  they have nothing but great things to say about it - they've had good luck with the employees and i know they went for a tasting and loved the food, too.  it's also very reasonably priced from what she's told me.  i'd be happy to ask her any questions you have...just let me know :)

    Thanks for the feedback!

    @Starrbuck,
    I think you were the one that had referred me there! : )  The FI and I both really like the place.  We are a little concerned about not being able to have an open bar (we were told it's based on consumption, which we are extremely nervous about) and the fact that the rooms are seperated (I don't want people to feel secluded from the reception).  If you wouldn't mind asking your friend how she is handling that, that would be awesome!  Is she having her ceremony there as well?

    @JGalla,
    I know, we really really really like it....there's donkeys there! You can't go wrong with donkeys!!! LOL!!!

    she's not having her ceremony there, they're getting married in the church.  i think they're sticking to a buffet or stations menu to help the flow of things, but i'm not sure...i sent her the link to the post...hopefully she'll come respond!  i'll check with her though.

    oh and just curious - why concerned about consumption vs open bar?  just the cost?  your guests won't know the difference...sometimes consumption can be cheaper, or you can set a set spending limit if you're worried about heavy drinkers.  i wouldn't let that deter you guys if you really love the venue...

    Hi Jenny! I'm getting married there May 19, 2012. *Starbuk* is one of my bridesmaids :) We are having our ceremony at a church and the reception would start at 5pm. We made up our own menu. We are going heavy on cocktail hour, prob like an hour and a half to two hours. Then we are doing stations thoughout the main barn for our actual dinner. We are tackling the mulit-room thing by keeping open seating. That way everyone feels relaxed and wont have to sit with people they dont know. We are going to have tables on the deck so hopefully its a nice day! We are not doing cake cutting because we are doing an ice cream sundae bar with local ice cream.
    As far as the bar, we haven't decided what we are going to do about that. We are leaning toward cash bar actually. But they are extremely easy to talk with and open to suggestions and I think you would be able to work something out with them.
    Have you actually gone to look at the place yet? When we met with them we discussed a mock menu and we were able to choose pretty much whatever we wanted and fit it into our price point. We even came up with our own horderves and they said that was fine.
    Lastly, I know 3 people (2guys and 1 girl) who have been to weddings there and all 3 have great things to say about it.
    My FI and I are both so excited to celebrate our wedding day there. I can't wait! If you have any other questions let me know!

    Thanks Mgullifer! I am glad someone else can talk about a positive experience.  I've never heard of this place and am not from that area of CT, but we went there over the weekend and absolutely loved it.  We are looking to get married this coming October and I've been looking for something rustic, but something that doesn't charge these outlandish fees.
    The 2 things I am a bit worried about are the seating and bar.  I think it's great that you are just going to have people find their own seating, it sounds like that will take a lot of pressure off.  We may do what Starrbuck suggested and do a spending limit with just paying for wine/beer/non-alcoholic (mixed drinks, shots, etc will have to be cash bar).
    I'm glad to hear that they are working with you on developing a menu too! We are thinking of going the buffett route and were hoping to see if we could tweak some of it a bit.
    If we end up going with them, I'll let you know!   Since we'd be getting married there first, I'll give you a full report!Laughing

    A co-worker of mine had hers there and they absolutely loved it! I didn't attend but they still rave about the food.  They also recently went back for their 1st anniversary and they were treated to a sweetheart table with their date on it.  SO sweet.  Very romantic place for an intimate wedding.

    just to add my 2 cents...i'm a BIG fan of open seating.  we did that at my reception and i think it gave it a very nice, casual, relaxed feel.  michele was there - she can vouch for me lol

    Hello, we are in the process of booking our wedding there and also had the dilemma with open bar ..we pretty much decided to have cocktail hour for 1 hour then close and a "nightcap" drink hour at the end of the night.  The plac eis amazing and we love that we are able to come up with our own menu. They are Super FLEXIBLE.
  • Do they allow you to provide your own alcohol with a corking fee? This place is perfect for our wedding except for the bar situation :
