May 2010 budget reception location

Hello all,
I am planning a quick wedding on a budget.  I am new to the area (moved to Denver in October) and my fiancee is new to the area as well.  Are there any suggestions for simple wedding reception places?  I have looked at hotels and restaurants and recreation centers but there is so much!
I would love any help you can offer!
Thanks!

I'm getting married at the Richards Hart Estate (that the PP mentioned) in June.  They charge $500 and you get 6 hours.  If you need more it's $75/add'l hour.  If you're serving alcohol you need insurance which was like $140.  It can add up, but it is definitely worth it for us!  Now, we booked in November and got the last available Saturday in June.  I don't know if May is as popular, but you may need to flex on the day of the week.  Weekdays might be cheaper than the $500 fee, actually.  Good luck and let me know if I can answer any questions!

I am having my reception at the American Legion Post 11-11. It is in broomfield. They have packages that include: Hall rental, Security, Bartender, Catering, Cake, Flowers, Set up and clean up and linens for a great dea! We are looking at having the actual ceremony at either Red Rocks trading post or one of the local parks! Good luck!

Our ceremony is at Evans Chapel on DU's campus, so we're having the reception at their Tuscan Ballroom, which is practically next door. It's run by the HRTM school, so they do all the catering/bartending - one stop shopping. We made it clear that we were on a tight budget and their event coordinator, (Patty Farmer, SUPER helpful at no extra charge!), worked with us right then to get the estimate w/in our price range w/out resorting to ham sandwiches. There are several other venues on campus that look pretty great too that do allow outside catering I think.

And they also have tons of leftover vases/candle holders/etc left by previous events that they let you forage through for no extra charge. I haven't actually gone to see what they have yet, but I'm guessing I'll save a bit of $ regardless.

They are actuallying having a "showcase" event 3/23. It's basically a big tasting event with a few various vendor info tables. You just wander around eating their food and checking out the venue. If you're interested I can send you pics/contact info for the showcase.

In case you coudln't tell, I'm a big fan of our venue so far. :)

I was a bit turned off by the thought of a wedding on campus, but it's actually pretty gorgeous and most of our guests are from OOT, so it will save them from trying to navigate across town.

Well if you like modern I would recommend the Space Gallery--an art gallery (with nothing related to the solor system). That's where we had ours...they are so laid back and it was only like $250 an hour for reception time, $100 for set up and tear down. It is also laid out in 3 rooms so you can have your ceremony in one room and the reception in the other two. Pics is my bio!

Paige, I am actually a senior HRTM major at DU. I would recommend asking for Molly to be your student manager that night. If she is unavailable, ask for Lesia. They are both very attentive and will make sure your whole wedding goes off without a hitch. If you have any questions about anything from an "outside" point of view, let me know!
