Wedding Ceremony & Reception Music Discussions

Lunch wedding - Music??

We are having a lunch reception (around 12ish) and we have no idea what to do for music??  Our feeling is that it being so early in the day, no one will get up an dance (however, 3 hours of open bar may change that....) so a dj is a waste.  We feel like  harp player or equivalent is to "elegant" for us.  We're feeling like the only option is a guitar player or a small piece band.  Either that or plug in our iPod... Any suggestions?  Things you've heard or wedding you've been to that were during the day??  Let me know!  Thanks :)

I went to a beautiful brunch reception last year. There was an iPod hooked up completely out of sight, and there was some mellow jazz that played throughout the reception. It was quite nice, as it gave some background noise, but people were able to sit and chat without having to talk over anything too loud.

The couple did still do their first dance, and had toasts immediately after it, so the transition back to the quieter background music didn't seem odd.

We are having a string trio for ours, but if that feels too elegant, Twighlight's idea is a really good one.

Thanks!!! We were toying around with the idea of the iPod but we weren't entirely sure...  I'm glad someone else did it and it worked!!  :)
