Help with colors for Old World New Orleans Vintage Spring Wedding

I was wondering if anyone could give me any advice on my upcoming wedding in April 2012 in New Orleans. I want to keep with an "Old World New Orleans" feel and add a vintage inspiration to it. I am having trouble picking colors however because I ever much of a gem tone kind of girl. I do NOT want to go with Mardi Gras colors as that as been done too many times. I have my gown which is in oyster and look amazing on me, if I can say so myself. http://www.marysbridal.com/bridal/5201.htm
I am looking at colors to compliment me, the season, and new orleans.  I have looked at the Pantone colors and found some I like such as Camo, Quartz, Honey Dew, Seaside, and other in shades of blue and purple but they just seem to give me more of a sensory overload. Any suggestions? My first thought was to go with a peacock theme http://www.theknot.com/profiles/cromano76/wedding-planner/inspirationboards but that has been SO many time and I would go with classic black and neatreuls but I am trying to keep it classy and fresh for spring. Any suggestions you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same issue at first.  Have you picked your venue yet?  We're getting married at the Bourbon Orleans ballroom and so we're going to play up the colors that are already there (green, gold and cream) for a classic Old World look

We're using our reception venue as inspiration for our colors also. I'm getting married in March at the Cathedral with a reception at the Ritz and have decided on a rich royal or navy blue for my maids, red for my bouquet (some sort of white/off-white for the rest) and gold tones for additonal accents. I thought about purple but opted for blue instead to avoid the Mardi Gras look.
Good luck! I'm sure what ever you choose will be beautiful! Great that you already have your dress :)

I am still debating between which courtyard to choose. I have narrowed it down to Maison Dupuy, St. Louis XVI, and Latrobe's... I think we'll have things finalized after the "I DO at the DOME" Bridal Show on 8/21 (FYI should be a great show given by NOW mag). I am leaning towards muted purple, blue, and green tones with accent of feathers. I couldn't pass up my dress once I put it on I KNEW, and it was being discountined, I had tried on about 6 each and 4 different places. Now the drama of picking friends/family to be bridesmaids. We are tying to keep this IMITIMATE but it is tricky. Thanks for the advice ladies.

THe St louis is soooo georgous, that was my other pick.  I ended up going with the Bourbon Orleans.  The only reason I passed up the St louis is I have stayed at the hotel before and while the rooms are great the service was so so but i have heard wonderful things about their weddings.

St. Louis is also redoing their rooms which is a plus! As far as service I was a travel agent for over 8 years so they better keep things straigher or ELSE hehe. Thanks so much. Bourbon Orleans is beautiful as well... I would fear my friends/family would never never make it to the nuptiuals if we stayed ther lol. I think it's kinda sad & ironic so many of us are from Baton Rouge and we feel the need to marry in NOLA because the lack of venues at home.
