Reception Locations

Hi-
I am posting this for a friend who is looking to get married this fall in Cincinnati. She is planning to have about 150 people...and I feel like she has exhausted all of the regular places that you see when you come on sites like this....does anyone know of any interesting places to fit about 150 people that is reasonably priced?
For reference I think they have been to: the Phoenix, Cincinnati Club, Westin, Krohns, the Art Museum, redmoor, 20th century theater, the Mariott in KY, etc etc... They are either full for that date or not what they are looking for....

I also think they would prefer to be closer to the city rather than way out in the 'burbs...and want something where they are the only wedding at a time or one of two at most...

I know this is kind of a lot of criteria, but if anyone has any ideas that they think would work....please let me know so I can pass onto her!

TIA!

Consider The Grand or The Gardens in  KY.   Both are owned by the same people.

Also consider Tonic Event Center right downtown on 4th Street.  It's where the old, elegant Pigall's restaurant used to be.

Or did they investigate the Observatory in Hyde Park?  It might be a tight squeeze for their number but I think it's doable.

Since you're asking about a reception site, are we to assume the ceremony will be held elsewhere?  If so where, as you'd probably want to keep within reasonable driving distance.
  • The Madison? Newport Aquarium? Those are the only two I can think of off the top of my head.

  • I am having mine at the Hyatt downtown - they can do any size wedding and they have been great to work with thus far.  They don't do a ton of weddings so there is a pretty good chance they're available.
  • Try The Center http://www.thecentercincinnati.com/

It's in downtown, connects with skywalk that goes to the Hyatt and the Westin. I was in a wedding last October and they had the reception here- I had never heard of it. They are still new to the game so they have no preferred vendors or fees that they dump on you. Theire price is also reasonable and I would assume their calendar would be open considering their newness. The venue is unique - no crazy carpet all hardwood floors...etc.

    Good luck!
  • Wow - The Center looks pretty awesome. Wish I had known about that!!
