Getting in Shape

How to lose weight the healthy way!

Hi my name is Kayleigh and I just recently lost 56lbs. I went from a size 12 to a 6. I have battled with weight all of my life trying different diets and exercise plans. I would lose some but then the weight I lost would come back plus more. It is offered through hospitals. Its a liquid diet that includes soups, puddings, beverages, and a bar. This worked for me the support has been great and I have now made a life time commitment to the doctors there to keep it off. I know I have an addiction to food so I have to have someone there helping me and making me accountable. Good luck you can do it tooLaughing

OR.. you can simply watch what you eat, add a little exercise, and change your whole lifestyle.

Liquid diets are known to not really be sustainable.  Sure, some people need the boost.  But those are the people who should be discussing these things with their doctor.  Not taking that kind of advice off a message board filled with internet stranger. Many people (even with medical intervention) resume their old habits because a liquid diet is not helping build a healthy new eating regiment.  Sure, you eat what they give you.  But a lot of people can't handle it in the long term once they are responsible for all their own eating choices.  Hence, why weight loss what needed to begin with.

    Also,

When creating your account on the Knot you agreed to the TOS which included statements disallowing vendor activity of any kind.

I am sure that you feel your program is the perfect weight loss tool out there, and that buying into this liquid based program people will lose weight but it doesn't change the fact that by disregarding the rules you agreed to. Advertising of any kind is not allowed on these boards.

    Thank you,

    Anna

  • The diet I am on is medically monitored. I go weekly, every week I sit in on a dietary class, get weighed in and also every other week they do blood work. They teach you how to eat properly and retrain your brain to get out of old habits. I have tired weight watcher, hcg drops, lean shakes, the body bugg by the biggest loser and so on. I did lose weight fom all of these but I didnt have the support like I did with this. I'm not saying this is for everyone but it sure did work for me. Its very easy to follow no counting involved. I have seen nutritionist/dietetions in the past and personal trainers. If you are like me and love food it is hard to ever get to your goal. I'm like a yoyo. You can't quit eating like its cigarrets. You have to eat to live. I could set anyone up with what diet or food plan they should do its doing it that's hard! I still have 25lbs to go to make it to my goal.

  • If they teach you how to eat "properly", then why do they have you on a liquid diet?  That is quite counterintuitive.

That's what I'm thinking.  Like they teach you to eat properly but don't trust you to... so they keep giving you their mush food.
  • Or they teach you that puddings and bars are the way to go?  I surely hope not.

Not my kind of living.  I love food.
  • This wasn't meant to push anyone on the diet I am on.I just wanted to share my success.I started the liquid because I had 81 pounds to lose. They have you do the liquids because it helps you get the weight off fast 3-5lbs a week they also have another option that incorporates food which you lose less. They help you get the weight off then help you retrain your brain once you slowly get back on on food to eat right. I am only trying to help anyone who wants it. I did calorie counter from the biggest loser and it worked pretty well too. I just want to help whoever needs it or might want to try something new. This is from someone who has gone through it and still working at it. I thought this site is about helping people not putting others down for letting them know what worked for them.
  • But...if someone came on here and said "eating disorders worked for me!!" would you be able to support that?

Most of us don't support liquid diets (even short term, even medically supervised) because we spend a lot of time promoting healthy, sustainable lifestyle changes.  Something like what you're doing is not practical for most people, and is not healthy in the long term or sustainable.  So, as happy as I am that you're losing weight and will hopefully be getting to the point where you're able to make those long term, sustainable lifestyle changes, I don't support the way you're doing it, and I can't recommend it to other people reading.
