Secrets Maroma vs. El Dorado Royale

I posted this over in Honeymoons, but am usually on here, so thought I'd get some CT advice as well. :) My fiance and I have narrowed down our choices to Secrets Maroma and El Dorado Royale. We'd love to look at the El Dorado Casitas Royale, but don't think we can afford a casitas since we're doing a mini moon in Vegas before heading to Riviera Maya.

Does anyone had any experience with either hotel? Or if you picked one over the other, what were your deciding factors? Help!!

    We just booked our HM to Secrets Maroma a few weeks ago and we couldn't be happier.  We were deciding between that and a place in Turks and Caicos...so I don't know much about the other two places.  We got a better deal at Secrets and I know a few people who have gone and they all rave about it.  GL choosing...it looks like you can't go wrong either way :-)

    I haven't been there myself, but a friend of mine went on their honeymoon to El Dorado Royale.  They had nothing but rave reviews for it and they said that the food was amazing.  I think they had a regular room, and it was quite nice.  Their room was right on the lazy river so they could step right from their porch into it.  I think that was one of my friend's favorite parts (aside from the food and massages).

    I've never heard of El Dorado, but Secrets Maroma is the #1 resort on all the polls I've seen on best resorts in Riviera Maya. TripAdvisor, wedding magazines, etc, all say it's a fantastic place.
