Average cost of CT Wedding

How much is your entire event actually costing???

Once you add up the numbers from this article from Real Simple, it basically states that a CT wedding will cost between $48,797 and $79,560.

Where do you fall?

I wish it could be under $20 but I have to appease my Italian family, and he needs to appease his portuguese family.  If it were up to us we would be cheap as could be.
Everyone that we have contacted for vendors are extremely suprised that our guest list is only180 (when they hear our heritage) but we both put our foot down with the families.

We were married in May. Our wedding cost us just around $30,000 that is not including the honeymoon.  We were married at hammonasset beach state park in Madison CT and our reception was at the Owenego Beach Club in Branford, CT.
From what I understand the cost of your reception should be about 50% of your overall budget.  Just ask all the right questions, find out what types of things are included in your reception venue cake, flowers, taxes gratuity. it all adds up. Trust me!   check out our wedding photos, feel free to vote i entered our wedding in the real wedding contest.   Good Luck with wedding planning!

    Oh man, that is disturbing.
I'm thinking we'll wind up in the $31,000 to $40,000 slot--our photographer and videographer alone are $10,000!

I'm italian, so to have a wedding reception without a four course meal would not have been possible.  Thus, my wedding is about $40,000.  However, both sets of parents are going to pay for the reception, and Jon and I will pay for the other stuff (limos, rings, flowers, dj, photographer, etc).

Our original budget was $10K, but it quickly shot up to $12K.  We are paying for everything, except the photographer & lighting for the hall, ourselves, so I am really trying to stay between $12-13K total, $15K including the honeymoon.

I'm a Waterview bride so I definitely fall under $31-$40. I originally only wanted to spend no more than $20k  but that went right out of the window 2 months into planning since FI couldn't keep the guest count down.

Ours was 10k without the rings, and we ended up around 12k but it was off season so that helped a lot.

I was hoping to stay under 20K, but it looks like we're more in the 21-30! We never real set a number as our budget, just tried to be as reasonable and cheap in certain areas as we could. Honestly I thought we were doing pretty well! There are still some things we haven't gotten so it will be interesting to see where we fall when everything is said and done. I would say reception and honeymoon were our two biggest costs. Thankfully both sets of parents are helping out here and there with certain things, but we are paying for our honeymoon and anything else they don't cover for the wedding!

I was hoping to be under 20K as well and even will a lot of DIY stuff (which really is helping a lot) we're coming in just under 30K and paying for most of it on our own- ugh! Oh well- it'll be worth it!

How depressing!!  I chose $21-30k though that's going to require some serious discipline and using points for our honeymoon flight/hotel.  We're paying for everything ourselves - right down to the RD - and plan to buy a house afterwards, so we've got to keep a close eye on the bottom line!

    Approx $30k...

Of course we're close to 30k by now, but you only live once, se la ve!!

Our budget is $40K. I picked the $41-$50 because I have a feel it will be about
$42K. What surprises me, is that I am never the one who opts for out of budget pricing - my parents do!!! On the one hand, lucky me :) on the other, chill out mom and dad, my wedding.

listen ppl im having an AMAZING top of the line wedding for 23k (125 guests) EVERYTHING is negotiable and since i was a broker for many years im not DUMB ENOUGH to walk into any vendors office and tell them i have an unlimited budget. HELLLOOOOO PPL! i basically dictated just about every price of everything! and we are paying for 95% of our wedding check out what my negotiating got me.

anthonys oceanview (our package on a sat night insted of a thursday night is $150 per head, we are paying 74.00)

flowers by danielle-endless hdrangeas, vendella roses, mini and large callalillies, and white cymbidium orchids everywhere, the church, the bouquets ..mine and 7 bms a mansanita tree with floral wreath...i mean the works for 2500! anywhere else was 6k+

local motion dj- from 1500 to 750for having a thursday wedding

david frost- offered us his wedding show package for 2100 (typically 4k+)

victors videos...(i cant eventell you what i talked him into b/c he wont show up fo r my wedding..lets just say im paying like half)

abc limo-talked them down from 1200 to 1k for the party bus

meggans cakes-350 for a 4 tier fondant and airbrushed decadent wedding cake compared to the 800 from another bakery

i mean the list goes on. i know a girl who had a very similar wedding with parents who had deep pockets and it costed them upwards of 80k! if a vendor knows you have money they will take advantage of you.
