My favorite thing about being Catholic

As I’ve posted on my club board, my DH and I just moved to a new area. I loved our home parish. We were converts there, had first Communion together there, and got married there. However, we can’t feasibly drive back to Mass every Sunday. On Sunday we tried a new parish. I love that because we’re Catholic we can attend a new church and it is the same. It made me feel great to know our friends were hearing the same readings. It just made me feel as though the Church really is one large family. And the priest knew our priest from back home. It is a small world. There are many things I love about being Catholic but to know we are one large family is really my favorite thing.

What is your favorite thing about being Catholic?

That is so true...I agree it is a neat feeling :o)  I love knowing that I am a part of something bigger and that has been around for a long, long time. I also love that because the catholic faith has been around for so long I learn something new about it continually.  My faith is my identity, it makes me who I am and I love that!

P.S. I love fun posts like these :o)

Knowing – and believing – that we are receiving Christ in the Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist!

(ETA: I just tried to paste text from John 6 here and it keeps showing up about in a font size of about 72 . . . so here’s a link instead!)

I agree entirely!! In the Eucharist we are as close as we can be to Jesus because we allow him to be consumed into our earthly and spiritual bodies. I pray for all people to experience this part of Jesus.

What I love most about the Catholic service is how reverent it feels.  Being preached at for two hours about the "fire & brimstone" is great and all if that's your thing, but the hour or so I spent at a Catholic Mass is really the only way I can feel connected to God.

Side Note:  FI's family is Southern Baptist, although he no longer considers himself part of that faith, and hasn't in the 5 years I've known him.  He went to a Mass with me, commented on how beautiful it was, and now his mother is convinced I'm the reason he mocks Southern Baptists.  I mean, if they didn't make it so easy... Tongue out

My favorite part about being catholic is definitely Jesus. I feel like here I've gotten to know Jesus and be close and communicate with him rather than just see him as something to study. I love how much the church emphasizes the imagery of Jesus as the bridegroom and us as His bride. It totally changed my relationship from one of obedient child to faithful lover. I'll never forget my first experience with the Eucharist. Wow. Sorry to dump all this enthusiasm on you girls--it's just I've only been catholic for two and a half months, and I'm still honeymooning!
