August 2012 Weddings

6 Weeks(ish)

OH LORDY, I AM SO EXCITED.

Sorry, just had to get that out.

There's been a few things putting a damper on the wedding planning process, but it's okay. I'm still getting married, and that's what I'm most excited for. But as far as the wedding goes, I'm just curious, what are you all excited for?

My Top Five (Yes, I made a list):

5. The Dress. It's perfect. I can't wait to wear it.
4. Seeing my Grandmother's expression when she sees me. I know that sounds weird, it's supposed to be the groom's expression I'm excited for, right? My grandmother is like a second mom to me, so we're super close, and she's only see pieces of my ensemble. Showing it to her all put together is going to rock.
3. Seeing FI's expression when he sees me. I get butterflies just thinking about it.
2. Having my dad walk me down the aisle. I'm not super traditional; this one of the few things that we're doing "old school".
1. Being announced as husband and wife, at the ceremony and the reception. Goosebumps, people.

Re: 6 Weeks(ish)

  • I also like lists. Here is my top 5:

    5. Our first dance as husband and wife.
    4. Seeing all of our friends and family and celebrating with them all.
    3. Walking down the aisle with my step father, who raised me.
    2. The first time FI sees me all dressed up. We are doing first look photos, so it will be before the ceremony.
    1. I have to agree with PP, its the moment they annouce us as husband and wife.
  • This is my humorous snarky (but true) list:

    5. August 27th - 2 days after our wedding when we we be on our honeymoon with the long flight behind us and no contact with anyone but each other.

    4. Being done hearing about things I have zero interest in such as a co-worker's stepdaughter's wedding - as if, because I am planning a wedding, I suddenly have an interest in everyone else's.

    3. Being done dealing with stupid questions about the wedding (every question you have asked me is answered on our website.  It's not my fault you didn't follow the directions on your invite and look there for the answer).  It is considered a stupid question to me if the answer is at your fingertips and you still choose to ask it.

    2. Being done hearing about opinions I didn't ask for - I don't care if the hotel I recommended doesn't have poolside rooms; I don't care if you interpreted the wording on the rsvp as free cocktails when they're not; I don't care if you don't like having to walk 200 feet to the ceremony location that does not have air conditioning; honestly, I don't care about anything except signing our marriage license and looking forward to the rest of my life with FI.  No one is forcing you to attend.  In fact, it will allow more space for others if you don't.

    1. Being asked questions about my life by friends/acquaintances other than "how's the wedding planning going?"  Now we can finally have in-depth conversations again and talk about things that matter like hobbies, family, friends, work, travel & such...

Of course, I love FI & can't wait to be his wife Tongue Out

I will second all of these. I wish I could add "Hearing the question 'when are you gonna have kids?'" to the list, but alas I'm pretty sure it's going to get worse. But, yeah, my coworker was getting married this summer as well and kept needling me for details. I'm  not particularly friendly with this coworker. No, I don't care that you're getting married under the bridge where you both met.
  • I just want to be set free!!!!

    1. Seeing my sweetie face when I walk down the aisle
    2. Not hearing anymore about "wedding" stuff"!!!
    3. Being free from everyone trying to make things the way they want it and not simple.
    4. To be alone with my hubby for the first time without interruption.
    5. "THE HONEYMOON" Finally we can get it in.... LOL!!! Laughing 4 real
  • The snarky but true comment from PP was so on point I can't stand it!!!
    5.  No more wedding planning, appointments, cancelations, ect.  I just want it all over.
    4.  No more bickering bridesmaids about who's gonna do what and when
    3.  No more people telling me that we should have saved our money and went to Vegas (I'm starting to think that they are right)
    2.  Our honeymoon, because after a year and a half of planning I think I deserve a vacation
    1.  To be his wife!!!
