how much to budget for a honeymoon?

We are having a small wedding and at 1st we werent going to do the honey moon thing. but now thinking about it we could really use a vacation right about now. We havent been away since last summer (for a tottal for 2 days) and i think we both just need a break.
ANYWAY!
I have no idea how much to budget for a honeymoon. We would like to go some where in the caribiean, and all inclusive. We live on the east coast if that matters.
TIA!

<div>I should mention we would like to go at the end of august. Are there cheaper days to travel?</div>
  • You should budget whatever you can afford. Each person has a different idea of what they can spend. Based on what you are saying you'd like, you should target around the $3K mark if you want to spend at least a week somewhere. August will have decent pricing and traveling on a Tuesday or Wednesday can often times be cheaper. though not always the case.

    Thanks!!
  • Depending on the resort, you could probably go for somewhere around $2-2500.

Budget for a honeymoon the way you'd budget for any other vacation.
  • Budget for whatever you can afford and start checking out prices at different hotels.  You could also visit a travel agent and see what they recommend.  I would say budget for a minimum of about 3,000 if you want to stay for an entire week.

  • a vacation is an expense that you budget for the same as any other expense. figure out your finances, when./how much you can spend and book accordingly.

If you cut it down to 4 or 5 nights you can get an all-inclusive for even cheaper. Get on the Tripadvisor email list and they send some great deals.

Be warned that August can be a very HOT month in the Carribean so do some research first on the location you settle for. Check out the Getaway section of Groupon: http://www.groupon.com/r/uu826241. Just saw two great affordable options to St. Lucia and DR for all-inclusive.

Also, there is a 7 night cruise to the Bahamas that departs from Boston, that is very inexpenisve and all-inclusive (avg. 1,000-1,400 per person based on type of room). My brother-in-law and his wife took it for there honeymoon and had a great experience. Here it is! http://www2.ncl.com/cruise-ship/dawn/overview

Try a package deal that includes charted air from the east coast. TNT Vacations and Apple both work through most travel agencies and offer good packages that include air, transportation to the hotel, and food and drink at all inclusive resorts. August is cheaper since it is in hurricane season. Make sure to buy trip insurance in case one hits and you need to reschedule. Any particular area in the Carribean you are looking at? The Dominican, Mexico and Jamica tend to be the least expense places to go and there are many resorts to select from.
