Catering Tasting!

Tonight my FI and I are doing a tasting with the caterer!

We're tasting Chicken Chardonnay, Chicken Wellington, and Pork Loin with Apple Gastrique. In the end we'll probably do a Chicken and Salmon but we wanted to taste the Pork Loin (and could only pick 3 entrees to try tonight).

What kind of food are you planning to serve at your wedding? Have you done a tasting yet?

Lucky girl!!! We picked a menu too but cant do a testing until the 6 month mark. We had a huge menu choice and were able to haggle a few things from the yummier menu in place of some other things we didnt care for. We picked a chicken, fish, and surf and turf that has crab cake...yum! I cant wait to taste it all!

Where are you getting married? I know in another post you mentioned somewhere in Livermore...

We don't get to do an actual tasting until about 3 mos before the wedding because the chef has a seasonal menu -- so we're sad we have to wait so long! The place we're going to has a restaurant which also is the caterer, so we're thinking we'll go and just eat a normal dinner there as a "sample" to get an idea. hehe.

wOW, we already had a tasting. It was yummy!!! I did feel bad cause we tried another wedding's food. They had a wedding that night, buffet style, and just brought it in to us and another couple. They just make extra if any couples come in. They encourage you to come and see a reception going on a try the food. Of course we were out of sight, but still able to get an idea.

Anyway, we are doing a buffet. i dont like sit down meals, too formal for me, and I hate waiting for someone to think I am ready for the next course, or taking to long when I am

. So, we have lots of food. A carving station with turkey, prime rib, and ham. Fried chicken. Mostaccoli with delicious meatballs. Mashed potatoes and gravy. Mixed veggies. Tossed salad, pasta veggie salad, and a cucumber, tomato and mozz salad.

We are also having a fresh fruit and sweet table for dessert and appetizers, although I dont know what those are, we came to late to try those.

Mmmmm Im hungry now!

We do ours in Jan. I'm so excited! I'm not sure what we're going to have yet. I'm thinking a chicken, beef, and vegetarian option.

We're also going to have some apps at cocktail hour, and I really want a candy bar and/or late night pizza!

Oh wow I'm surprised everyone has to wait so long until their tastings! Our caterer was happy to get us in soon in case we weren't happy with the food and needed time to look for another caterer. Of course that isn't the case though :-) The tasting was really fun! They cooked a chicken marsala in addition to the ones we requested and that ended up being our favorite. So I think we're going to that and a salmon and they do a vegetarian option as well.

We're getting married at the Purple Orchid, but we're bringing in an outside caterer, PBS Catering. Where are you guys getting married at?
