  Check:

   the Bertram in Aurora (We used to have our Jr/Senior prom there with over 400 people)

  Signature of Solon (I don't know that they can handle 400 there though)

  The Sheraton in Cuyahoga Falls looks out over the river...you may want to try there too.

  PP have covered a number of the large capacity venuesI know you said no to downtown but the Galleria at Erieview and Windows on the River would easily fit your request!
  A few of Sammy’s venues holds that many
  The Zoo
  Akron City Center Hotel
   The Natatorium at Cuy Falls
  Weymouth CC in Medina
  River Styx Grille at Blue heron – Medina
  Hillbrook  should be able to handle that size

  I'm having my wedding at Hillbrook.  I don't think they could fit 400.  I think the max they told me was 300 or 350, but your guests would have to be in seperate locations for dining(one being the new outdoor terrace they just put in so if it rains there is a possibility they could get wet.)<div>

  We had our wedding at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown cleveland.  They have several ballrooms, I think 2 will fit 400.

  berkshire hills country club in chesterland has enough space for 500....lots of character high vaulted ceilings a walkout porch in the front.
