Our board has been boring :( Here's a poll!

Just something to entertain us on this gloomy day stuck at work.

I have just started out in my career, so I won't have any problems with changing it and not getting properly recognized for any other work I've done.  And, I've always looked forward to changing my name. Especially since now people will know how to spell and pronounce my new last name! I love my middle name, so I'm keeping that, though people don't know how to spell that one either (or my first name....I really just have it difficult, I blame it on my family being Portuguese and I think my mom took all the Portuguese spellings).

Nobody can spell my last name which is not exactly common. FI's last name sounds common, but isn't. His sounds like Peterson but not at all spelled that way.

I go back and forth. I was adament about not changing it, then I was thinking about changing my middle name, then I was thinking about changing it. I'm all over the board. I have an established career and reputation, and I think I would have an identity crisis. Still deciding what is best.

I think I am taking his name, but I may still use my name for work purposes. Can't decide yet!!

I'm totally taking his since right now I still have my ex-husband's last name.  I want to get rid of this last name as fast as I can LOL.

I always knew I would change my last name. We are both pretty traditional like that. Besides, my maiden name was so common that I didn't have any particular attachment to it. I dropped my maiden last and took his last name. I kept my middle name as I was named after my Mom and I didn't want to change that.

My last name is 13 letters long and Polish... As for my career i am a writer but have never used my full last nae writing anyway, and my current job doesn't even post my name at all on my writing! So his last name it is! No reason for me not to be traditional.

I love my current last name (and so does FI).  Nobody can spell/pronounce it, but that's fine by me.  We thought about somehow combining our last names into one and sharing it (and the combos were pretty cool) but FI loves his last name too plus he's the "namesake" of his family, so yeah, the combo idea got vetoed too.

I plan to be Rebecca MaidenLastName FILastName

Becca we thought about doing the same thing! My last name is "Mc" so I just wanted to add it to his last name and we could combine. I still love that idea, him not so much. If I keep mine he's fine with it. No matter how you do it, it's going to be a pain in the butt.

Is there a website on what you have to do in Ohio to change your name and all the records that need changed?

I took his, because I always said I would take my husband's name and I had such a generic last name. (I wish my mom would have given me her last name when i was born!) But now I my last name is long and a little complicated, to spell (even though it's pretty phonetic) and my full first name is long too. When I started my current job after the wedding, my work made it so the only things that have my full first name and last name is HR paperwork.

Kelly- look at the social security office website and (if you live in Franklin County) the Franklin County Probate court link here: http://www.franklincountyohio.gov/probate/departments/name_change.cfm

You basically just need to change your driver's license, SS card, financial accounts, credit cards, work papers (change your marital status on tax forms), passport, etc. Your official legal paperwork.

Haha I still have my exhusbands last name too and I hate it!! I can't wait to get rid of it! lol  I'm really sorry I didn't change my name back after the divorce. My maiden name was really sweet and my first married name is terrible. I'm beyond ready to ditch this name :-)

I think I will be changing my facebook display name to Ashley MaidenName New LastName. That way people can still find me that knew me by my maiden name and my new name will be displayed which is what I'll be going by. My old married name is going completely away! lol
