Need Advice

I am flipping out just a little here...

I had an awesome engagement photo session at Cheeseman Park and the Denver Botanic Gardens on June 23rd... I thought everything went great!

But my photographer typical posts pictures of his engagement sessions on his Facebook page for publicity... its something that you sign off for in the contract. Every couple days you see a new couple's either engagement or wedding photos. I am sure of this because in May my best friend had her photos on his Facebook page. (we are both getting married) but mine have yet to show up.

Then today... I look at my facebook and in the news feed is a new couple’s engagement session. At cheeseman Par and the Botanical Gardens!!!!!!!!!! Their session was taken after ours (as his page states) I am freaking pissed. 1) we chose those places for VERY sentimental reasons, and 2) the couple happens to be in the EXACT SAME places and poses that we were!!!

I am not sure if I am freaking out for a legitimate reason or not but I feel like I am going to break in to tears at any second!

Should I call him out on this?

I would email him and ask him where yours are.  Explain that you noticed other couples and your still waiting.

Most photographers will do the same poses at the same location, because they know what works and what doesn't work in some postions and poses and with the light too.  Don't freak out that someone else has the same poses.  Yes, it sucks that they can't be more creative...but that's what works for him.

I'm not sure if you can call him out on that or not.  Although these are your photos and at your special place, it is a public location and many people have their pictures taken there.  I do find it pretty sad that he did not use different settings and different poses, not very original or creative on his part.  Unless you and the photographer signed a contract stating that he MUST post your photos on Facebook and the NO ONE can do the same location and poses in their shoot, you may have to just deal with the fact that he didn't take that sort of thing into consideration.  I'm sorry to hear about that, I can only imagine the frustration.  Keep in mind that, even though someone else had the same photos done, they don't have the same memories that you do...those are what will make the photos and the places special to your heart.

Honestly, I think you are over reacting about somebody else having similar e-pic location/poses..  As previous posts indicated, those are public places & photographers tend to use similar poses & locations for lighting/etc. (Maybe your photographer really liked how your photos turned out & wanted to use the same shots for the next couple's pictures).

I think you are totally justified in contacting your photographer & asking if your photos are ready yet (since he's posted pictures of a couple taken after photo shoot date).
no identifiable siggy pictures anymore, thanks a lot stupid nest!

    Thanks guys.

I know that the Botanic gardens are public; it just killed me to see the same thing that we did within a week. It felt like it killed the individuality of our photo session. The main reason that we chose our location is that the Botanic Gardens is were my guy proposed. I am so not a bridezilla, actually everyone is telling me that I have been too laid back about everything but for some reason this just sent me into tears as soon as I saw it.

I really appreciate having all of you and this board that I can vent to, its making this all quite a bit easier!

I hear you!  We are having our photos done at Red Rocks, where we actually got engaged and there are TONS of people who are or have already had their photos done there.  I'm sure a few of the background scenes and poses may be similar, but no one has our story, no one else knows the little secrets that we do.  So even though the photos may be similar at a place that is typically over photographed, I can't help but feel that they will still be 100% individual and totally us.  You're allowed to get a little panicked every so often, after all, weddings aren't exactly stress free!  Hang in there, your photos will be perfect!

We got our pictures done at the Denver Botanic Gardens too. :( Ours were taken back in May... I am sure your pictures are beautiful and maybe the photographer loved the gardens so much that they recommended the same locations to the other couple? I would for sure email or call the photographer and ask about the turn around time for your pictures.
