Long Overdue Wedding Recap and Vendor Reviews (Super Long!)

Hi Ladies!  I have been married just over a month now but I wanted to share with you about the wedding day details.  It was such a great great day that ended with me being married to my best friend and love of my life!

(I typed this in Word first so I apologize if it looks funky.)  The pre-wedding beautification went great.  We used my normal stylist for hair and he did a great job.  He even baked quiches and had sweet rolls and mimosas waiting for all of us at the salon.  My now sister in law has a great friend who does Mary Kay and she was able to meet us at the salon and she applied make up for everyone.  This was so helpful in keeping costs low!  The wedding ceremony was at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in uptown Charlotte and the ceremony went off without a hitch.  Our Priest was great and made everyone feel welcome (most of our guests were not Catholic).  We chose to only do a ceremony and not a full mass.  Then the reception was at The Big Chill and we had a great time.  The food was delicious and the drinks were great!  Yes, it all does go by quickly but I did take time to take it all in.  We honeymooned at Secrets Capri in Playa del Carmen, Mexico and I wish that we were still there!

Here is a quick rundown of our vendors:

Photography: Pixels on Paper – Misty and Ryan were fantastic!  They got great shots and were very detailed.  They are a husband and wife team and are two of the most down to earth friendly people around.  They made everyone feel very comfortable.  I can’t wait to get our album!

DJ: Jill from All The Right Grooves.  All of the hype is true!  Jill did a great job.  All of the guests loved the music and had a fun time dancing and singing along.  And the CD of all of our music at the end of the night is a great bonus.

Cake: Cake Lady Jill.  I absolutely loved our cake.  It was so pretty and was delish.  We had two layers that were chocolate with raspberry jam and butter cream frosting and one layer was lemon with raspberry butter cream frosting.  SO GOOD!

Florist: Queens Florist.  Cristina with Queen’s Florist did a great job.  She was a TOTAL Budget Saver!!!  Flowers were not a big deal to us and we were actually just going to DIY from Sam’s Club until we met with Cristina.  She did my bouquet of Orange/coral roses, 6 BM bouquets of roses, 4 mothers corsages, 10 groomsmen/fathers bouts and two arrangements for the church for $375 dollars.  We were really impressed!

Reception Venue: The Big Chill.  Tyler with the Big Chill is a great coordinator and the service was top notch.  We chose a buffet dinner and our guests raved about the food.  Tyler (and Jill) kept the entire night flowing smoothly and ensured that we didn’t have to worry about a thing!

This got much longer than I anticipated!  I have lots of wedding items to sell that I need to sort through but I will post later with that information.

Thank you all for your help in the planning process.  Although I wasn’t able to post as much as I wanted, you ladies are awesome with great ideas and valuable shared experiences.

Oh and here is a link to the wedding pics if you want to take a look.

Hi, congrats!  Did you use a travel agent for Secrets Capri?

WOW your florist sounds amazing. That is such a great deal - we are planning on DIY as well. Do you have her contact information?

Thank you all for your kind words!

Ashleyn-Yes we did use a travel agent for our HM to Secrets Capri.  We used Jennifer at VIP vacations.  We also met with AAA vacations in Charlotte and they seemed helpful but kinda pushed Sandals too much for our liking.

CltBride-The Florist we used was Cristina at Queens Florist.  Her shop is in uptown Charlotte in one of the high rise buildings.  Here is her contact information.  201 S College St # 215, Charlotte, NC 28244-0019 (704) 332-3199

Good luck in all of your planning!!!
