Morning Glory Inn

Hello every one!

I was wondering if anyone had their wedding at the Morning Glory Inn in south side PGH or had looked or...had attended a wedding at this venue.  I am very intrested in this place but was wondering how they set up for a reception there. Is it the kind of place that is more for just the ceremony. Thanks for any help in advance!

Katie

I don't believe anyone who regularly posts on here is having their wedding there. I know in the past there have been some negative reviews.

The only item I will not compromise on...my bouquet of all purple tulips wrapped in a swatch from my Mom's wedding dress.

I suggest you Google some reviews. However, I do believe that they have hired or are hiring a new coordinator.

thanks for your posts, I have searched so reviews but I feel like they are saying things about it that does not apply to me. I feel that if someone could give me a personal view it would be more helpful. Thanks anyway

That was the first venue my fiance and I looked at.  Thought it was beautiful.  I set something up with Nancy to go view the place on a sat.  She said there was a wedding so I was fine doing it another time and she said it was ok, just come down as early as possible. I called and talked to the husband on the way down and kinda  sounded like he couldn't believe we were coming down there that day.  When we got there...I will tell ya the place is very cute and quaint.  Would love to just go stay for a weekend but when he showed us around for the wedding he seemed kinda goofy about it and when I told him my wedding was in two years he really looked at me like I was nuts and that really made me feel weird.  Trying to get a price took him a while to think over but he came up with $7000 for everything.  As far as a reception, it is small.  I don't even know if you could or they offer a sit down/buffet dinner...maybe for a small wedding.  When I seen it I thought more drinks, food stations.  He said it's like a flow through, you have all the rooms on the bottom of the Bed n Breakfast and the outside courtyard area (which is also where the ceremony would take place).  So I don't know, between seeing some bad reviews, not knowing many people who have been married there, and the way they acted when we went to visit their place...didn't do much for me.  However, people have had weddings there and if people keep having weddings there then, I don't know, couldn't be THAT bad...who knows.  In my eyes..Pros, close, good for small/intimate weddings, place to get ready and stay, beautiful courtyard. CONS owners gave me bad vibes, NO PARKING for guests (and you know how much of a pain it is parkin in south side especially if it's a sat evening), don't know anyone who got married there, haven't heard anyone on the knot married there, haven't heard too many good reviews, very small and don't know how dinner would work.  Sorry to ramble on and on just thought I'd share my experience and what I thought since I went down there and checked it out.

I know they were interviewing to hire a new coordinator, but I don't know if they did or not.  Even if the reviews don't necessarily apply to you, I don't know that I'd risk it, but if you're aware of the things people have said and still feel comfortable going ahead with it, then go for it.

I don't know of anyone in the past year I've been on here that has gotten married there.

I'm a few days late - but I went to a reception there in the spring of '09.  its beautiful. But very small.  The dinner was buffet style and there wasn't much seating....we actually ended up standing around a small table to eat.  The bride and groom sat at a table on a balcony off an upstairs room that overlooked the courtyard.  I think it would only work for a reception if you had a very small number of guests.    I also dont remember the food being all that impressive.  Hope this helps!

That is actually the first place my FI and I looked at as a place for our wedding/reception.  We actually looked there last month, and was not really impressed with it. It is a cute B/B, but for us it didn't work.  We met with the owner, who is the wedding coordinator along with his wife.  He basically told us that him and his wife would plan everything, and you have to use one of their preferred vendors for food.  The owner did say that there is parking for guets, there is acutally a parking lot down the street that guests will use.  He actually gave us a handout with the breakdown of costs/vendors.  If you are interested I could be able to scan and email it to you if you want, please let me know. I hope this helps!  Good luck with the planning!!!

Hey Sloan5233, would you be able to email/scan/fax that to me? I am interested in having my wedding there after my soon to be sister in law had her's there. I actually loved it. If you could I'd really appreciate it!
