Envelope addressing

How is everyone addressing their invitation envelopes? I have been looking around at calligraphers but the service is more expensive than I expected. I contacted Danielle with daniwritescalligraphy, but she is too busy at this point. Someone suggested I print the addresses on clear labels, but I'd really rather not. Does anyone know of another calligrapher that charges $1-$2 per envelope? Thanks for any constructive feedback you have!

Re: Envelope addressing

  • The person who made our invites ran our envelopes through their printer and printed the addresses on them.  They looked really pretty and cost a couple cents for each envelope.  After working with kinko's to print our programs, I wonder if you would be able to bring your envelopes there with all of your addresses in a file and have them print them for you?

  • I printed our addresses on clear Avery lables from Staples. At the end of the day, the envelope gets thrown away. I focused more on the invites and the labels still looked nice. We had our return addresses printed on all envelopes.

Did you get your envelopes printed somewhere or run them through your printer yourself? I didn't even think of this and just ordered a mess of custom return address labels.. good thing they were only $5.
  • The pre-printing was done when we ordered our invites (The American Wedding) So we did no have to run the envelopes through the printer.

For the avery labels, we just printed those on our LaserJet printer and stuck them on the front. I selected a nice fancy font and they looked nice.
  • Someone I work with does calligraphy and I believe it is $1 an envelope. She does it with her family and each of them has a different style. Their website is down for some reason but her email is  Mollie@WoodbridgeWriters.com. She is based in NYC. I am probably going to use her for my invites as long as I can budget for it. My favorite style she does is: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=150687978354424&set=a.147621008661121.33694.147595141997041&type=3&theater

Hope it helps! Tell her Sam sent you :)
  • I wound up printing on gold metallic labels, using the font on my invitation. The envelopes I used were very plain, so this dressed them up. They looked neat and pretty.

  • I would have them printed via printer/company directly on the envelope or I would find another calligrapher.
Even have a friend or a family member with beautiful handwriting buy a calligraphy marker and write them for you.

You spend all of this money to buy nice, lovely invitations then you slap a label on them?

    Just my two cents.
