How Did You Make Sure Your Guests Could Hear Your Vows?

So I'm wondering what to do about a lapel mic?  The rental company we are using has a wireless one, but it only works as wireless if you also rent their PA system...for a whopping $225!!  I would only be using it for the length of the ceremony, about 20 minutes and then we have a DJ taking care of the reception.  I figured I could use my friends karaoke machine with speaker and connect it that way, but they aren't even sure if that will work.

Does anyone have any suggestions?  It is important for me that our guests and especially our families, hear us take our vows.

Thanks so much!  :)

Your DJ or ceremony musicians might be able to help with this?  They might have an extra mic that you can just use or rent for cheaper?

OBX I can hardly imagine with your personality and I'm sure with Brent's, that we won't have a hard time hearing you all the way up here in Central PA when that big day arrives in September. LOL!!!!!

lmao!!!  and you are sooooooooooo correct my friend :)

One of my friends told me that I should have been a cruise ship director or an actress b/c I am always so "vivacious" as I like to call it, and full of that zest for life attitude.

I have the same question!  Thank you for reminding me, because I keep meaning to ask my officiant if they use a little mic or anything- I"m sure they'll at least have ideas as they've conducted however-many ceremonies on the beach!  When we visited in April it was SUPER windy on the beach, so I hope it turns out okay!  My parents/grandparents will be crushed if they can't hear a thing, and my fiancee already speaks softly!!
