Rustic Wedding Venues near Green Bay

Hello Everyone :)

After 3 months of engagement I am finally starting to plan my wedding...and I'm doing it from out of state! I've been living in Nevada for almost 6 years and will be planning everything online with only a few trips to WI before my big day. Luckily I'm shooting for May 2014 so I have plenty of time right? I think the most difficult part to this process will be finding a venue/locaiton so I'm hoping you fine folks will be able to help me out.

Here are my hopes/dreams :)

1 - An outdoor ceremony at some sort of nature center/preserve, park, garden, barn, orchard, etc. I'd prefer a wooded area.

2- The reception could be outdoors too, but I'd like an indoor space available just in case. A rustic lodge/cabin or barn vibe.

3 - The ceremony and reception do not have to be at the same location, but that would be a bonus!

Your suggestions are greatly appreciated because I'm already feeling a bit overwhelmed!

Cheers,

Lisa

  • I think you would definitely be taking a huge risk having an outdoor wedding in Wisconsin in May. Especially since it is a "destination" wedding for you.

Temperatures average in the mid-50's and we've definitely had snow before in May!

Have you looked into Heritage Hill State Park? I think they may have the indoor/outdoor rustic vibe you're going for.

I would also suggest you call (or check the website) to the Tourism/Convention office in Green Bay to see if any major events are planning to be in the area so you can book up hotel rooms sooner rather than later.
  • Here are a few to google:

    Green Bay, WI:
    The Marq
    Pamperin Park
    Green Bay botanical Gardens
    Reforestation Camp
    Wildlife Sanctuary
    Windsong Gardens (in Black Creek)

    Appleton, WI:
    Smith Park
    Homestead Meadows

    Keil, WI
Woodfield Carriage House and gardens (This one is harder to find online but here's the number I found (920) 286-2899)

    Waupaca, WI
    Red Mill Chapel

    Hope this helps!
  • I would also recommend Heritiage Hill! It is SO beautiful! I was wanting to do my wedding reception there as well, but chose a different option instead only because the max. people that can be attending is 175. If you're having a small wedding, then it'd work perfectly! I would def look into it!

I am living in Seattle, but am getting married in WI, too. It is a little over-whelming when you're first starting out, but once you have your venue picked, it really is much easier! SO much is done online, that you don't even notice you're on the other side of the country!

    Good luck
  • Congrats! May 2014...doesn't really leave you a lot of time. We have booked all our Saturdays in May already. But if you are looking into June please consider us.

Visit www.mulberrylanefarmwi.com. Click on Group Gatherings and then Weddings. You'll see a video there of an outdoor wedding at our farm. We also do indoor ceremonies as well.

P.S. We have out of state couples from NY, PA, IA this year so working with a long distance bride isn't anything new for us.

Looking at a map of WI we are 3 miles east of the tip of Lake Winnebago.

Good luck in finding the perfect venue for your special day.
