As you ladies know - Mike got laid off 2 weeks ago and it hit us kind of hard being that technically both of us were unemployed. Since we just bought a house I admit I was more than nervous. He was working side jobs and filed for unemployment until yesterday.
He called his old boss to ask him about returning something and boss told him, "I was getting ready to call you - we want you back at work tomorrow, if you can." He immediately accepted but I said he needed to slow his roll a bit. In his job there's always lay-offs and his boss is an f-ing idiot who doesn't get contracts finished on time so his people have work.
So he went in this morning (hence why I was up @ 6AM) and told his boss that he needed a typed and signed agreement that he would not be laid off unless the company was completely going under and that he wanted a raise. The boss actually agreed and got a letter typed up for the accountant to look over and will have it notarized for Mike by the end of the day. Plus he got the raise because he boss said he was truly the top person on his list and couldn't afford to lose him permanently.
He is back to work today, we got our $8100 house credit yesterday (after only 4 weeks!) and I'm back in school still nannying. I am just breathing a sigh of relief and continuing to look for work on my end.
That being said I am booking our December vacation and getting the hell out of Dodge for a bit! lol.
Thank you to all of you who offered advice and kind words through all this mess.

ETA:

all done I think - I'm not sure but they will be magnets
Re: FI is back to work! and DIY STD's
What a relief! I'm glad things are starting to look up. Where do you guys plan on going?
My birthday is the 12th of December and I just want to celebrate it away from here. Any ideas on where to go? lol
Ooh, I forgot I made our Save The Dates: What do you think?
*hugs*
*I'm not crazy, I swear*
Anywho... I think the STD's are really cute!

250 will be there!
146 are missing out
0 are still thinking
RSVP Date: December 15th
Congrats to FI!
As far as a vacation - the past 2 years I have gone to Mexico in that general time frame - to the Playa Del Carmen/ Cancun area. There are some really nice resorts down there. If you are flexible with mid - early december I would play aorund with dates, as you can find some really good deals. That time frame is when I think is the cheapest for winter travel. That is actually about the time we are planning on Mexico for our honeymoon.
I am beginning to warm to the Save the Dates - not exactly what I wanted but I think they will work. Kath -Thanks, the dress is from Von Maur (not sure if there's one around you) it's actually a homecoming dress!
Loop -- I can definitely be flexible with December dates (that's my only time off from school) and Mexico sounds awesome. I would love to go to Playa Del Carmen! Perhaps we will be there at the same time??
And I really like the save the dates. They are cute!
*No pony, no I do!*
Ok now I love the STD's. I'm ordering them!
