October 2012 Weddings

2nd night, no sleep

Doubled my headache medicine, which usually knocks me flat, and was wide awake worrying till 2am. Then caved and took over the counter sleep aids. Then laid awake until 5am.

Now i'm worried about worrying too much, as that makes me drop too much weight. Ack!

  • 2nd night no sleep here too...I feel ya :)  I have GOT TO stop thinking about the GM gifts and the Seating Chart at 1-2am....

  • I'm in the same boat. It sucks. I want to just scream at my head to shut the heck up so I can sleep!

  • Me two.  We are 29 days away and I have been laying in bed with my eyes wide open until 1:30 a.m. and get up at 7 a.m. for work!  AHHHh!  

    I really am trying to not think and just think of an empty white space and that helps when i am trying to get to bed.  

    My only advice is force yourself not to think.  Or think of something that is not wedding related.  That might help.  Helps me most of the time.

  • Glad to hear i'm not alone! Im thinking eventually i'll be so tired that my brain has no choice but ti shut up. Hopefully tonight

  • ya...in an effort to not think about it...I turned on a DVR "four weddings"  LOL....that didn't help...I turned it off.....

  • I have an app on my phone called Relax and Sleep. It's a pretty good collection of what many people consider to be relaxing sounds (rain showers, white noise, fans etc). If I can listen to something that usually helps stop my mind from going in circles. I used to listen to music but then I found that either I'm listening to songs I like and I'm either singing along or if a song I don't recognize comes on, I open my eyes to find out what it is. I had to use the app last night and I expect I'll have to use it more as the next month ticks by.  

    Get the app, find whatever sound or combination of sounds you think are most relaxing for you and clear your mind. Think about your breathing, slowing it down. Think about how soft your pillow and bed are. It usually works for me. I set the sleep timer so that after so long the app turns itself off (or if you're just trying to catch a nap the alarm can go off)  I hope this helps you ladies. We all need our rest so we can decompress. They also say that being low on sleep contributes to low immune systems. I know none of us want to get sick leading up to our weddings. Good Luck!

  • I didn't sleep last night either. Where were all of you other insomniacs when I was staring at a dead board at 4 am?! Tongue Out

    However, I have to work tomorrow so I have GOT to sleep. I intended to go to bed as soon as I got home but I ended up putting together the BM survival kits, adding the last rhinestones to my tiara and getting on here. Ugh.

    Didn't see this til this morning. Did it help? I found that some sounds are relaxing at first but annoying after 5 mins. If that happens find a different sound. The air conditioner sound used to have a plop during the loop that annoyed the crap out of me. They took it out though with the latest update. I may try it again. My fave is the rainstorm.

  • I forgot I downloaded it! I could not get comfortable last night. Too hot, too cold blah I may play with it today though. Listen to the options and get my brain used to having it!
