Weird to have an outdoor wedding and indoor reception?

We are planning on having the wedding at one of the 2 churches in my hometown, but I just got the number for one church and the other church never answers their phone or emails or calls me back.

If we have to do an outside wedding, is it strange to not do an outdoor reception?

I'm doing my ceremony on the rooftop of one building and the reception will be in a ballroom. I'd much rather chance the weather during a 20-30 minute ceremony than 5 hour reception.

I'm having an outdoor ceremony in the park and indoor reception inside the community center. I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

I don't think there is anything weird about this. My first wedding was outside in the gardens of an art museum and the reception was inside in a really cool old club downtown. This time, they'll both be outside, but that's because I'm getting married in my backyard!

I think this is a pretty common thing to do. We had our ceremony outside and the reception was indoors.

I think it's pretty common. We are getting outside at a vineyard then having the reception inside in their ballroom.

The nice part about an inside reception site is that it might be able to back-up as a rain site for your ceremony if the weather is bad.

We had our ceremony on a golf course and the reception in an old theater. It was amazing nice and sunny and then inside for the food and fun! I don't think it's weird at all!

I'm also doing it. We are getting married on the bank of the lake, and then walking 20 steps to a venue indoors.

It's way too hot to stay outside in the Texas summer for too long anyways.

I dont think that is weird. FI and I attended two weddings last year both having an outdoor ceremony and an indoor reception. We have also attended a wedding with an indoor ceremony and outdoor reception!!

I hope it's not weird because that is how our wedding is going to be!

We are having an outdoor ceremony and then traveling around the block to the reception are which happens to be inside a club house.

We're having a beach wedding and then going inside to party!!! More private inside the resort and sound carries better. Plus, many places have noise ordinances -- meaning you have to shut down outside by 10pm.

Not at all! We are having our ceremony at our venue in the garden area. After the ceremony everything moves inside.

<div>This is exactly what we're doing. The nice thing about our venue is after the ceremony, they bring tables outside and set up the ceremony chairs around them so guests have the option of sitting indoors or outdoors.</div>
