Hair/makeup touch-ups

Did you have (or are you having) your hair/makeup stylist stay after the ceremony to fix your hair and touch-up your makeup for the reception?  If so, how much extra did you have to pay, if you don't mind me asking?

I will be changing into a different outfit after the ceremony for the reception.  I was hoping to have my hair/makeup stylist stay to touch up my hair and makeup during the cocktail hour.  Especially if I have 2 different colored outfits, I would think my eye makeup would need to be redone.  The stylist that I am considering charges $50/hr from the time everyone is supposed to be ready for the wedding to do touch-ups.  Since we will need to be ready for our first look pictures before the ceremony (pictures will start around 2:30 pm, baraat 3:30 pm, and ceremony at 4pm), I feel like it will be too pricey for me to ask her to stay or a few hours until the cocktail hour (5:30ish).

So I was wondering if $50/hr seems reasonable to you?  I thought this was rather high, but then again I can understand that she is forgoing business to wait around those few hours until the cocktail hour.  Just was curious to see if this was the norm..

Thanks in advance! :)

I think I'd be going for a morning look and an evening look, so yes!

I won't... but it does seem reasonable! It's actually more on the low end of what I saw.

I think that's a normal rate for someone. Like you said, it's their time that they are taking away from potentially going to other clients.

I did have my makeup completely redone because I wore a sari for the ceremony and then changed into a wedding dress, so we went with different colors. I'd venture to say that you'd probably want all of your makeup redone, since it's difficult to just change your eye shadow. Make sure you build the time into your time line to have everything redone/touched up.

    Hey Priya,

Yes, I think this is reasonable, I am doing the same thing.  However, my MUA is going to be able to take other clients b/w the time after she gets me ready for the ceremony and before the reception, so she is only charging $50 to come back for a touch-up...maybe you can set up something like that with your MUA...good luck!

My time line is the following:

    Ready: 1pm
    First look: 1:30 - 2:30
    Ceremony: 3 - 4
    Family pictures: 4:30 - 5:30
    Cocktail hour: 6:30 - 8:00
    Reception: 8pm - 12 am

That seems like a very reasonable price.  Like Raangoli mentioned, it sounds more like you need two looks done.  I wanted my MA to stay for touchups, but she said I really didn't need her, which was true.  She gave me a touchup kit, but I on;y really needed blotting and lipstick.  I also had only one opportunity to do touchups.  It's not like normal makeup, so you may not need her after you get your second look done.
