Cake Pulls... sticking with tradition?

So, traditionally cake pulls are for single ladies only. Are you all sticking to this rule or are you including your married bridesmaids/close friends too?

Re: Cake Pulls... sticking with tradition?

• Not really sure. Is there a number most people get?
• I am getting 6 - one for each bridesmaid - 3 are married, but I am getting some New Orleans themed ones, so they aren't the traditional 4 leaf clover, ring etc.
• Where are you getting your cake pulls from? I haven't yet purchased mine but I need to get them soon! Thanks
• Some people get them from String a bead but I find them to be quite pricey. I am curious as to where everyone is getting theirs from too.

• I ordered mine from here: http://www.charmfactory.com/silver-charms.aspx

I looked at the ones specifically for cake pulls, but they were the same charms with a markup.
• I am planning to get them from Haydel's bakery. They aren't cheap, but they are sterling silver and they are New Orleans themed:

• I have just been thinking about this in the last week or so too and I have decided I really want to use this opportunity to include my close girlfriends and cousins that are not in the wedding. I will not be limiting it to single ladies (I am well into my 30's...I'm pretty much the last single one :) I was actually going to email my bakery (Haydel's) today to see what is the max # of pulls I can have because I would want around 12 or so too. I've seen some on etsy, but I haven't priced compared yet to see if they are expensive.

• @max&lucy: The ones I purchased were sterling silver too. I think I paid around $60 for twelve cake pulls.

Good to know. The ones on esty are WAY more expensive than that!

Somebody on this board (sorry, can't remember who) suggested getting them at Michaels; which I did. They were on sale for 50 cents each!

I had 11. I included all 7 bridesmaids (some married, some single), my 2 cousins (happen to be single). I filled in the 2 remaining spots with 2 married friends who attended without their husbands.

As for the maximum; we had a 14 inch cake on the bottom tier, and 12 of us fit fine for photos. I think more than 14 of us total, would have been too crowded for the table and the photo.
• I got mine from Tie The Knot Specialty shop. She has traditional and New Orleans themed. I did a nice mix of both. The were $11 each and are bracelet style. I'm only doing single ladies, cause I think it's fun to pull the ring!
• Thanks, ladies - I'll do some more searching - I found another site online which offers a set of 7 for $30, including a descriptive card explaining each charm. Although one was a crab which meant that the receiver would be a crabby old lady, so I think I will leave that one off since I only need 6 anyway.

:)

@max&lucy

Where did you find that set? Most of my guests and the pullers are from OOT, so I'd really like a descriptive card.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

• I got mine from the Helen Brett Jewelry show. They are sterling silver and I paid about $60 dollars for 12. I'm not sticking with the tradition they are all NOLA theme since half of my bridesmaids live out of town and I don't want the married ones to feel left out. I made them into bracelets that resembled the wedding colors

• My FMIL generously bought mine from Mignon Faget. I think I'm sticking with tradition and having only single family/friends pull.

• KB got hers at the bead store on Magazine...I think....did for single and married friends using different colored ribbons for single( white) and married(blue)
• I ordered mine online at weddingcakecharms.com and was very, very pleased with the price and the variety (5 bucks a charm more or less).

I limited it to my sisters, bridesmaids, and four single cousins who were close in age to me. One cousin didn't show up so my man of honor hopped in at the last minute. Thank god he didn't get the stork!

I am sticking to tradition with single ladies only. I am going to make beaded braclets with the charms.
• I'm sticking with single ladies only. I bought 14 charms from String a Bead in Metairie for $1.50 a piece and just added the ribbon to them myself! They had a list to go by saying what each meant and over 100 to choose from. I found that this was the cheapest way to go!
