Workout Accountability: Thursday

Good morning, the weather sucks here today.  Rain and snow. Awesome.

So it looks like I'll be running on the treadmill tonight.  I think I'll try a hills workout again.  I tried one a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it.  Last night I lifted and did the elliptical and some ab work.

How's everyone else feeling today?

Re: Workout Accountability: Thursday

  • Yeah the whole rain/snow thing here is obnoxious.  As long as it doesn't turn to ice I'm okay with it though.

Last night I lifted and did abs.  Today I'm hoping to get a run in.  I saw a lady out this am running in this craptastic weather.  Talk about motivation!  I wish I could be like that....
  • Ick it's raining here too! I did weights last night for about 40 minutes. I mainly focused on back, arms, chest, and core. I have found if I try and do legs more than once a week I have a hard time finishing out my cardio because my legs are so sore. Does anyone else experience this? How often to you do legs? This morning I went to spin for an hour. LOVE the new Thurs instructor! And not just because I know her lol. Great ride!

Nice job with your work outs ladies!

  • For "legs" I mainly just do squats.  I do them maybe 2 times a week.  I hate to tire my legs out too much because then that effects my runs.
  • Not feeling too great lately. Got home late on Tuesday and had been clenching my jaw all day so I was left with a massive headache and pain down the left side of my face. Ordered Chinese & called it a night. Stayed home yesterday since I woke up with a terrible cough, ear pain, and stuffiness. So, no work outs for me the past two days.

I'm back at work today, so tonight I'm going to try to walk on the treadmill and maybe do Level One of 30DS. Something light. We'll see how it goes.

Hope everyone is doing well. Have a great day!

<div>Right?  I think the same thing too! Like "hey, I could do that, yeah! I'm super dedicated too!" But my enthusiasm is usually pretty short lived.  I do like running in the rain during the summer though.</div><div>
</div><div>maribeth: I do legs usually twice a week.  I think your soreness can probably be attributed to the fact that you only just started lifting.  But all the same, I would take care to stretch extra well for cardio.  Soreness is normal, but if anything is truly <strong>hurting </strong>then you should slow down and take it easy. </div>

  • I slept through yoga AGAIN this morning... it's raining here too so I blame the weather.  I have to run after work though- and yes I'm one of those cray-cray people who will run in the rain/snow/sleet/wind whatever.  Gotta get those miles in, and I'm sure as shiit not going to run more than 4 or 5 miles on a treadmill.  Good luck ladies :)

<div>Do you have multiple shoes?  I would be one of the crazies doing it but I have one good pair of shoes that I wear and half the time they never dry but the next day when I run so I just avoid the rain.  I should probably invest in two pairs...</div>

Hahaha, actually I do!  I had a pair that I really liked, but since they are last year's model I couldn't find them in the store in my size.  I went to zappos- where they were like $20 cheaper than the store so I ordered 2 pair.  Best idea ever.
  • Great job ladies! I wish I were one of those people who liked running outside in nasty weather but I just get nervous that I'll slip and fall (I'm not the most graceful haha). Actually, I trained for all the races I've done on a treadmill until it was nice enough to be outside, and even then, if it was too hot, I was back indoors.  :p

I woke up crazzzzzy sore this morning. Like, it hurts to walk sore. The plan I'm on has me working different parts of the body each day and I'm having the same problem you ladies are trying hard to avoid. My lower body is so sore that cardio is going to be dificult. My hope is that if i just stick with it that it will get easier. We shall see! Today is mostly arms and abs so hopefully it won't be so bad.
  • Last night I did week 1 day 2 of the one hundred push up challenge. I decided to switch from doing level 1 fully extended to level 2 from my knees. I was barely going down 1 inch when I'm fully extended, which wasn't really working me. Now that I'm doing the harder level from my knees, I can really feel it. It felt really great!

I forwarded the links to all 3 challenges to my FI. Hopefully he'll join me...he can be kind of lazy.
  • Tonight is lifting for me. I haven't incorporated my legs lately in my lifts, but when I do I usually keep it to once a week when I'm getting back into the swing of things. My legs get super sore too, so I try to space the leg lift so the following day is my off day so it doesn't affect my cardio.

  • I soooo didn't feel like going to the gym last night, but I did. Worked on my abs as part of my warm-up, then I did 10 minutes on the stairmaster (It still kills me, but the more I do it the easier it will get!), then 30 on the elliptical. Ran out of time so I didn't get my weights in - feeling like I'm slacking too much with weight lifting lately!

  • We have a snow day today!!!! So I am only working a little bit and going to the gym early! I had a great elliptical workout yesterday with some program I've never done- it really kicked my ass! Looking forward to the gym today!
  • Boot camp this morning.  We used the Bosu device - those things are hard.  It was a good workout, though.

  • Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred arrived in the mail yesterday (love Amazon!) and I started the first 20 min. set this morning. It was good... I felt like I actually DID something without having to go out in the snow to the gym.

  • Ibarr we have the same wedding date! How exciting! I haven't made it to working out yet but I am doing really well with my eating. I haven't eaten dinner yet and still have about 500 calories! I have a massage appointment at my gym on Wednesday so at least I have a reason to go and attend some workout classes. I need to wake up early tomorrow to help with my sleep schedule so I am planning on trying out a pilates DVD. Keep up the good work ladies! I am amazed by how much all of you do! Great inspiration!
