Alterations Help - fast turn around!

Hi Ladies,

i am getting married in 4 weeks and JUST got my gown in. I need quite a lot taken in on the bust and am looking for seamstress recommendations. Fay and Chris O'hare are both booked between now and my wedding.

i am looking at Adam & Eva in Medford,
Alterations by Violette in Arlington,
and Always Elegant in Framingham,

if anyone has any experience with any of these vendors i would love some feedback before biting the bullet and trusting them with my gown!!!

thanks!

This probably isn't that helpful, but I think Violette works with Camilla's in Arlington, right?  I had a consulation with her since I bought my dress there and I did not like her.  I've heard she does great work from a bride who used her a few years ago, but her prices are REALLY high now.  Fay is doing my dress for half the cost that Violette quoted me.  I also didn't think she really listened to me.  I told her my dress was tight in the hips and she said, no it is fine.  Well, it was so tight it was uncomfortable on me and I took it out 1" on each side.  Thank goodness, I want to eat my dinner!

Anyway, I'd suggest meeting with them and seeing who you like best.  Good luck!

My seamstress was Beatrice at Queens Dressmaker at the Cambridge/Belmont border.  I picked up the dress this weekend.  She was fast and reasonably priced, and my dress fits perfectly (it needed to be taken in at least one full dress size).  Here are her reviews on yelp http://www.yelp.com/biz/queen-dressmakers-cambridge

I used Adam & Eva for my wedding dress and had very good luck.  She was quick and also pretty inexpensive.

I used Lucy at Always Elegant for a few bridesmaid dresses.  One was difficult because i'm pregnant, but Lucy worked magic on the dress.  My mom and grandmother bring all their stuff to Lucy.  I can't comment on wedding dresses personally, but I swear, she always has a bride in there when I go.

Christina @ Pins-n-Needles (over Lorraine Roy) in Danvers is a MIRACLE WORKER!!!  It would take me forever to get into how she saved my dress and my sanity a week before my wedding.  I can't recommend her enough!  I also referred a couple of my clients and co-workers to her and they also raved about her.

    Good Luck!!
